Purchased in October of 2020, the gear on the Eliminator shaft has been updated and is now the same width as the gear on the Original Slipper shaft, so stripping the idler is no longer as issue. Uses standard spur gears. Slipper eliminator and new hardware was 14 grams less than the original hardware, so if your close to minimum weight you will need to add some somewhere else.
i have the first rendition of the slipper eliminator kit ( not full width of the idler)and it is still going strong over high bite track conditions for several months. No stripped idlers or top shafts in 17.5 SC and buggy. I would not use if over 13.5. I can attest that the new generation is now full width of idler.
Ive been running this in my SC6.1 for about a month now on very high bite indoor clay (running slicks). I haven't had a single issue running my Schuur Speed 17.5 v4 with the purple (torque) rotor. It is significantly lighter than the stock setup and I would not recommend this for anyone running on carpet as this seems to be where most people are having issues. But if your running on clay, give it a go, you won't be disappointed.
nice design but it is only to work with associated slipper spur gears. I got it thinking I could mount kimbrough gears on it but the nut does not lock the spur adapter onto the top shaft. I had to make a spacer out of the stock spur to take up the space that it was missing between nut and adapter.
2nd season runnin this set up with 17.5 on High traction clay with slicks and have had no issues.
Very responsive but I to wish it were compatible off brand lighter spur gears tho.
Don't buy this until they updated the top shaft to be full width (same as kit). It strips idler gears like no tomorrow.
no problems run 13.5 its the same wide as my idle gear no striping thumba up
Great weight savings for my 21.5 stock classy buggy. Wish I could install it in my original b6 as well
I have this installed in my associated B6.3D. I run the car in 21.5 spec class on a clay track. I have never had a problem with it. As the product information says, it's not meant for carpet or anything over 17.5 power. Prepare to add some weight to the rear end of the car because this is lighter than the stock slipper set up. I gave this four out of 5 stars due to the fact that it could be built tougher for use in 17.5 carpet.
It's amazing how much weight it takes out but the bad thing is they don't have a 69t spur that will work with it but I just bought a yokomo 69t spur and a little trimming and works great.
Update, did not last long diff case turned gray in a few races because of the aluminum and I was running a 21.5 motor on carpet in 2wd.
If your not running 17.5 stock I don't recommend this if you are it is very helpful for stock buggy racing.
Don't but this as it's only good for stripping idler gears. There's an update version only available on RC10.COM (same part number). The teeth on the shaft of the updated version are as wide as the idleritself. Not sure why AE is still selling this awful version.
Upgraded to this while running 17.5 Running on high traction carpet with jumps and hairpins. It works better the just tightening the slipper down. Plus less weight to spin. Great product. Geared 78/28
Been running on high bite Astro for a few weeks with no issues.
Would prefer if it was compatible with kimbrough gears.
Ran this for 1 race on high grip carpet in 17.5 2wd buggy. 2nd race stripped out idler gear. The top shaft is too narrow and strips the idler gear. Hope AE gets this fixed.
If you run on high grip carpet DON'T run this direct drive, i'm now on my 5th idler gear which is unacceptable. I ran the Exotek flite top shaft and eliminator in my previous b6 for about one year, and had ZERO issues with that combo under the same conditions. Like previously stated, the issue is that the teeth on this top shaft are too narrow and don't spread the load evenly...
I love my b6.1 and its a fantastic buggy that ill continue to run, but something needs to be done able this. AE i hope you're listening!
In Australian conditions, on clay outdoor track, running 17.5 Stock...excellent!
No good on high grip. Gear is too narrow and strips idler.
stripped idler gear in a few runs on astro. AE needs to make the topshaft gear as wide as the idler gear, like the one for the slipper. Also the gear box might need an upgrade, not the best AE has ever made. Machined to make the topshaft and idler a bit tighter mesh, should help. A huge disappointment ! Been running the lockout on the B6 for over a year with no problems.
Please help AE !!!
Don't even try it on carpet or astro, even with a 17.5. It will kill your idler gear within a few packs. Might work on clay with a 17.5, but nothing more powerful.
