Kyosho Ultima SB Dirt Master 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit
This is a nice kit but you should know that it does not fit standard 2s Lipo sticks as they are too thick for the battery hold down unless modified. The kit does recommend 2 batteries however. Both are made by Gens Ace and are only 18mm thick.

Kyosho Ultima SB Dirt Master 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit
I got this kit a little while ago-when I first opened the box, I immediately printed the two pages from the manual that show you where all the different parts and, especially, shims are. This eliminated the constant back and forth looking for the correct shims-which seem to be an issue with this manual. In addition, there were a few steps in the assembly where it was a bit confusing as to how and/or where some parts would go. But it was not that difficult to figure it out. I also used a tray with several compartments and separated every screw and bolt according to size and thread type. This simple preparation eliminates a lot of time looking for specific fasteners when the assembly process requires them. When I assembled the shocks, I happened to have a large surplus of leftover Tamiya gold shock oil from previous kits. So I used that. A lot of folks would not recommend using Tamiya oil for a Kyosho-if you're gonna race it, then you will likely use something else. But for a basher like myself, it seems to work just fine.
Overall, prior preparation with arranging the parts before assembly will save a lot of time and frustration-and it will go together a lot faster. In my build, I used a 3300MaH NiMh 7.2v stick, a Hobbywing 1060 ESC, and a Dynamite 20t brushed motor. Old school to be sure-but inexpensive and reliable technology.

Kyosho Ultima SB Dirt Master 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit
I like the car! It runs smooth as silk and straight as an arrow. I would give 5* but do have a few complaints.

1- instructions were terrible… lots of plastic shims that were hard to differentiate and was just plain hard to follow. Other than 6 bags of part trees, the parts can be difficult to find.
2- the typical 1/10 scale lipo race batteries don’t fit. I Macgyver’d it with a zip tie for now.
3- the spectrum esc I bought BARELY fits… I had to cut the mounts off and sand even further and it’s still crazy snug.

Now that it has been built and with a little part tweaking all is well. The car could win races, again it drives amazing. I would not recommend this kit for a beginner though.

Kyosho Ultima SB Dirt Master 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit
This was a fun kit to build. ran the old rb5 for years so this was a great flashback. had to track down some bits on ebay to upgrade it. I have not seen much support for replacement parts so I have not been back out to the race track with it.

This car is actually perfect for the closed end bell motor class at our local Rchr off-road track it’s a straight forward build and handles really well right out of the box

Kyosho Ultima SB Dirt Master 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit
This kit is a fascinating build - more parts are plastic than you'd expect, but the components are of extremely high quality. Make sure you have a set of calipers when you build, since all the shims come from parts trees. Otherwise, the process was fun, the car runs extremely well, and it makes for an excellent practice buggy that you don't necessarily have to drive on a groomed clay track.

Kyosho Ultima SB Dirt Master 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit
This is an impressive kit. I've built a number of Tamiya RCs and appreciate the quality of those, but this buggy is on a different level. The parts fit together like a precision instrument. The fiber-reinforced parts are hard enough to wear out multiple knife blades trimming sprues. The chassis feels like it will take a lot of power (I'll sure I'll find out).

The instructions are quite complete, but you do have to refer to the part trees maps a lot to be sure you are using the correct parts. You do have a choice of shims on a number of suspension pivots so you can tune the geometry to your needs (or get in the weeds on setup) which is helpful.

One thing to be aware of is that this chassis is VERY compact. Choose your servo carefully, and a Hobbywing Quicrun 10BL 120 ESC is too tall for the sidepod with the fan on top.

All in all though, excellent product.

Kyosho Ultima SB Dirt Master 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit
The Dirt Master is a beautiful car that is priced just right. Its not often you can buy a 200.00$ car that comes with full ball bearings and turnbuckles. There is only 2 complaints i have with it. 1.) The instructions are not as clear and the parts are not marked with numbers. I had to keep a mm ruller on hand to make sure i had the right spacers. So if you do buy this make sure you have a mm ruler. 2.) There is not alot of room for electronics. I used a hobbywing quicrun 10bl120 brushless ESC and i had to make a esc plate to mount it on the battery plate just to get it to fit. Im not happy i had to drill 2 holes in the battery plate just to mount it. But i got it to fit without further modifications. Amain hobbies got the kit to me quickly within a few days so that made me happy. Overall, i love the car. I just wish it would stop raining so i can run it for the first time. Buy the car. Its worth it.
