Treal Hobby FCX24 Hardened Steel Center Driveshaft (2)
I really wanted to like these but they are not D shaped which is a huge disappointment because all the machining on the treal products are really well done. The driveshaft’s themselves are ok they do not line up in phase perfectly because of the odd splines and you do notice it when you’re completely flexed out. Another issue I had was with the hardware all four bolts they sent me broke almost immediately after installation on there maiden voyage around the house, all four heads broke off and left the shaft stuck in the axles, I assume this was from the driveshaft shock caused by the circular holes instead of the D shaped needed. I would spend my money on another brand until they address the issues.

The Driveshafts are perfect... after serious modification. I would recommend these to anyone who has a bone stock truck and never plans to install upgrades. However, there are limited options for aftermarket parts that fit the Cayman 6x6. If I was not willing to give up on these axles, they would be a 1 star. I used these in a custom Furitek Cayman 6x6 where I bought two packs and shortened the furthest rear driveshaft. My first outing was spent replacing hardware because the stock hardware was not capable of holding up to the power of a heavy truck and a Cedar motor. Not wanting to go back to plastic hardware, I bought a Dubro 2.0mm Tap set (dub370) and got to work. Yes, these are hardened steel, and no it is not easy drilling and tapping these, I broke 1 tap and dulled 4 drill bits. Harbor Freight sells the same size drill bit that comes with the Dubro tap.

I hope they can make some modifications to these and make them better in the future. Switching to a "D" shaped hole would help the holding of the screw but that 1.5mm hardware is not up to holding serious power on heavier trucks.
