Didn't last long. My truck is pretty heavily modded, literally. I have aluminum steering and suspension everything with Proline Badlands, I didn't even get through a full battery doing simple speed runs in an open flat field, no crashes, gears stripped out. Now I've stepped up to the Savox Sb2290Sg.
JUNK. Traxxas should dedicate themselves to selling rollers ONLY. Mostly all their electronics are junk. Stock servo for Xmaxx went bad, sent it in, had to pay a few dollars. They sent me a replacement for free (that's nice of them). While waiting on replacement I decided to buy the upgraded servo for the Xmaxx. Decent for the 2 months I had it. Motor on Xmaxx locked in and ESC kept cutting off, sent both of those in and yep had to pay a few dollars for that too. So I was without an Xmaxx for a little over a month. Finally got motor and new ESC and was excited BUT the upgraded servo just stopped responding altogether. Power is going through, but the motherboard isn't connecting or sending signal to the servo, I have no steering. So I recalled that I still have the replacement of the original servo that traxxas replaced for free. No problem right? Put that sucker in and what do I get? 10 minutes of runtime on its first round. Moral of the story: stay away from Traxxas electronics altogether. They don't care about quality and it shows. All they care about is taking your money. All 3 servos were a big failure. I'll be taking my business to Arrma from here on, they're not perfect but at least you'll get what you pay for. (20 years of putting up with the same nonsense from Traxxas was a bit too much for me).
WENT THROUGH 2 OF THEM IN A WEEK. NO GOOD. luckily my local retailer was willing to swap my broken one with a new one the first time but after the second time it stopped working, I stepped up to SAVOX 2290. works awesome no issues with tons of use so far. Does require some modifications, chassis clearance, heavy duty servo arm, but absolutely the best choice. DONT WAST YOUR MONEY ON THIS TRAXXAS SERVO.
Lasted two gentle bash sessions and out it went! Time to step up to a better servo.
Ran this servo 3 times, maybe 20 minutes each run. Started overheating each time I’d run it after that. Had to end up replacing it!
Installed setup tested it everything great. Ran it today and servo died just slowly turns left with no input from radio and radio does nothing to recover it. Just put stock servo back in
I Just installed this in my xmaxx and it lasted 5 minutes before the internal gear stripped out. Not sure if I got a bad one or not because the part that broke has a gear pressed into it that came apart.either way $90 bucks and a week wait for 5mins Of run time!! Save your money and get a better servo this one Says Traxxas on it so I should have known to stay away!!!
I have had the Traxxas X-Maxx 8s for about a year now and have had to replace this thing twice. The first servo overheated and smelled burnt so that same day I went and bought this servo and with in the second time of running it the servo locked up and smelled burnt so I'm done with Traxxas junk servos and this isn't the first servo iv broken on this truck! DON'T BUY THIS SERVO SAVE YOUR MONEY PLEASE I BEG YOU!
Save your money. Most of all Traxxas electronic are garbage. Go to the upgraded servo with the bracket .
Total crap! I went through three of them. One of them stopped working the second battery run. Don't waste your money! Switched to a protek standard size servo and it is so much better. A lot more torque and best of all it's reliable. You just need the standard size servo adapter and a new servo horn to fit the servo.
I use this in my XMaxx, Maxx and XRT...but...Nice power upgrade from stock steering servo, but I've broken so many mounting ears off the servo case, that I have 7 of these in rotation as the cases break, I swap them out and buy another $25 case to repair it. Traxxas really needs a better way of securing it instead of two tiny ears and a half circle ear on the bottom of the case.
All of the reviews are true. This servo is awful. Traxxas should be embarrassed. Garbage.
Works perfect nice upgrade, turns the new sledge hammers with ease, installation was straightforward and easy. I’ve never had issues with Traxxas electronics for me they have always been reliable. This servo is no exception to that direct fit more torque for sure speed seems about the same, it does the job that’s what matters.
I am not giving it any rating because ALL Traxxas electronics are junk. I only gave it one star because this site won’t let you post anything without picking at least one star. It doesn’t deserve that.
