This motor has loads of power...so much power on reserve its stupid. I had ran the pro4 540 in some of my pals trucks and felt it lacked overall power compared to my ballistic 550. I was unable to find comparisons of ppl running the Ballistic 550 compared to the pro4hd, hence why im making the review. I loved the Ballistic 550 and is what i held as the mark for my 1/10 4x4sc. had loads of power and was very efficient running very cool at 120-130 with 30* of timing. Granted i know it was only a 2 pole but it would pull away from pro4 540s with ease. after installing and running the pro4hd i am VERY VERY SATISFIED. i was able to make jumps and clear sections with ease that i other wise had issues with when running the ballistic 550 ( these same sections the pro4 540 had no chance at clearing or doubling in) but now with the hd i am actually running less throttle and no timing and im able to sail over the jumps and such. so much power on board its sick. i did notice that my ESC ran nearly 15-20* hotter with the pro4 hd. this alone tells me its drawing more power. once i had it geared correctly all bets are off. i feel comfortable racing any car on the track now. TEKIN YOU DID IT RIGHT...GREAT MOTOR....LOADS OF POWER/TORQUE.
This thing is awesome and has tons of power. This is my first Pro 4 motor to own so I cannot compare it to the other motors (540s) but one of my buddies that has used one says the new 550s are leaps and bounds ahead of the 540 motors. He was having temp issues in his TLR 2.0. I am using this thing in my Tekno SCT410 coming in around 6.5 lbs and I am running around 155F on the motor and 110F on the RX8 Gen 2. This combo is super smooth and I have plenty in reserve on the straight aways. I am using one of the new Pro Tek 5600mAh 100C batteries with it and this thing is a rocket on the track. We normally run 6 min races but looking my batteries after the races I will be able to run 10 min races with ease.
I definitely would recommend the RX8 Gen 2 and Pro 4HD 4300 for someone getting the Tekno SCT410. You will not be disappointed.
This motor is about as good as the pro4 540. Didn't notice any more torque or top end compared to the other. But this motor will run cooler with very close to the same performance. If you have the 540 just stick with it. But if your in the market for a new 4x4 motor this is what I would buy due to cooler temps
I've switched from a Viper VTX8 to a Tekin RX8 Gen 2 and all I can say is 'WOW'. What a difference--I won and TQ'd the first time out with this set-up. So, don't try and pair this motor with anything other than the RX8 Gen2--nothing else can handle the amp draw. I was negative at first, but now, I've got to gear it way down to keep my SCT410 under control.
I have two of these and they are both in Tekno SCT410.3's with the same exact set-up. One is for my son and one I drive. I never though anything about it until my truck broke a diff right before the A-main. I decided instead of fixing it, I would run my sons. I ran it with the same Futaba 4PX, RX8 Gen2 ESC, etc. The motor in his truck was WAY, WAY faster. We brought them home and lined them up on the road. Still faster. We jumped over a 25 foot double on my home track. His went 8 feet farther at full throttle.
I took the motor out and put it in my truck changing nothing else. It was the motor. They obviously vary a great deal motor to motor. If your getting out ran down the straight and you have the same motor, you might consider it just being this motor. I still use it and he runs the slower one due to him being younger but he runs it at 100%. I only run mine at 88%.
This motor is a monster when timing is set to 30 degrees or more on RX8 GEN2 ESC. Dominate competion on large tracks in SC truck class. I run this in my E-MAXX, SUMMIT, and Hybrid SLASH-MAXX. The torque really shows when in monster trucks. Blows pins on MIP drivelines and twists revo 3.3 full spools. 540 motors wish they could do this. Run time is good on 7000mah batteries. Motor gets hot when running over 30 degrees timing. I have run this motor for 3 years no issues.
This motor is a must buy! All the torque and speed I would desire! I run it on my TLR Scte 2.0 with RX8 GenII esc and it's the fastest combo out there, even with 80% of current limiter. Temperature after 12 minutes never goes over 70°C for the motor and 40°C for the esc. I'd buy it again hands down!
The only thing I can say about this motor is that its AWSOME. Tekin did an excellent with th pro 4 hd. It delivers all the torqe you need and then some.
The best thing is that while providing you with a lot of power this thing just stays cool. My SC10 4x4 never been so fast even with stock gearing.
Honestly I hate to have to write this because this motor out of the box is pretty dang good. However, something happen to the sensor board at barely 160 days (within 180 day warranty) Tekin said they would send a replacement board and bearing. It’s been 2 weeks and no one responses to email or on the phone (just keeps ringing). Again great motor but not worth it.
This motor is in a Tekno sct 410sl with a 19 tooth pinion using a Castle creations mamba x esc running gens ace redline 2s 7.6v 6000mAh packs. This thing runs a grass track and landed me a podium position(2nd) on its very first day. The motor is awesome with this set up. The 3s guys let me run with them the next day and that was such a surprise to them because this rig is as fast as their trucks.
This thing SCREAMS in my Tekno SCT410.3 with a 16t pinion. Immediate power when trying to make that triple. Seems like it’s so easy to keep momentum with this motor.
Great motor for the losi mt..fast shipping and great customer service..
Hands down the best motor I have ever purchased. I picked this up for my new Tekno SCT410.3 and went from B-main to A-main and got second place on my first race with it. I couldn’t be happier I was in first but the ESC shut off from overheating because my fan stopped working from all the dirt I was roosting up... bottom line if you think you want this motor get it.
Just bought this motor was woundering if it's better then the pro 4 4600 that I run in my Tekno 410.
I don’t understand why it should take 2 to 3 days to get it ready to be shipped
