This is the Tamiya XV-02 Pro Chassis 4wd Rally Kit. Designed as an all out 4WD rally machine the XV-02 uses durable shaft driven drivetrain and a mid motor location. This results in the front and rear driveshafts to be equal lengths giving a true 50/50 torque split. Adding to the adjustments Tamiya has given you two different differential gear options. These give you the ability to over-drive or under-drive the front or rear differential catering the handling to your liking. Helping to control this power are the long aluminum shocks giving the XV-02 an abundance of plush suspension travel. Tamiya has packed this vehicle with tons of features designed to give you the ultimate driving experience. With a ground up rally design the XV-02 is ready to handle everything from tarmac to dirt.

Tamiya XV-02 Pro Chassis 4wd Rally Kit
Excellent kit! Amazing fit and finish and the use of plastic technology is evident throughout! The drivetrain is so smooth it’s almost silent when running; amazing! Yes it costs a bit more, but it’s totally worth it. Mine is stock but handles and drifts beautifully.
Buy one and get ready for, (seriously), a really enjoyable building experience and exceptional performance. Highly recommended.

Tamiya XV-02 Pro Chassis 4wd Rally Kit
When I opened the content I felt like the design was off, the arms are way short and the chassis is narrow. However, I was wrong. The design on this XV-02 Pro is a true rally chassis. No other company can offer you a specific genre vehicle like Tamiya. The plastic parts on this car is high resolution in detail, fit and finish is jet-fighter quality, well maybe Dyson vacuum quality and that's a compliment. The weight layout of the vehicle in particular to the motor and battery is a significant role on how this vehicle's handling of weight transfer really makes it a top performer. The TRF shocks are also a major contributor as it dictates suspension travel and weight transfer. I will be adding a few hop-up such as the aluminum hinge blocks and the center limited slip-differential to save the drive train when the car hits some pavement so I would wish Amain to carry some of those hop-ups from Tamiya. I have compared this vehicle to an old HPI RS4 belt-drive rally (from back in the days) and Traxxas 1/14th Rally (MERV-mini E-Revo Chassis) and this kit is the one to get, other then the previous version XV-01 which is an upgrade from the TA03F. Now if I can get some locals to come out and play besides their crawlers and scalers, that would be make this Sumo.....a flying.

Tamiya XV-02 Pro Chassis 4wd Rally Kit
I can only guess the hardware isn't very hard. I used my own hex tool to put the differential cases together and managed to strip the heads on all the fasteners (they get very, very tight and the miniscule allen wrench provided in the kit wasn't working). Unless I spend another $50 on two more diffs to try again I now have a very expensive static model LOL.
