Tamiya 1999 Subaru Impreza STI Monte-Carlo 1/10 4WD Electric Rally Car Kit
First I have got to say this car is a great value. TT02 chassis has a ton of range from entry level semi-basher to full on race mode depending on upgrades. I opted to go with all metal bearings as my first upgrade and installed them during the build. I also purchased a Tamiya to Deans battery adapter so I wouldn't have to purchase any new batteries. I may end up just cutting the ends and soldering the wires together to eliminate some excess wire, but for now just going to let it be.

The build was, as is every Tamiya kit I've done, very smooth and easy. Just pay attention to the directions, they are very thorough, detailed, and show you everything you need to know. Also look at the instructions for the body before jumping to assembly or you might miss some alternate optional changes like the ride height which for this model is set to high ground clearance instead of standard (width is standard, and wheelbase is 257mm).

Doing the body is a labor of love. Painting was the easy part when it comes to the body, and man it looks so nice in that metallic blue. The stickers though... this is where you test some patience and have to spend extra time to get everything nice and lined up without too many imperfections. Just take your time, take breaks, don't rush and do it all at once. This was like my reward after work, I did the front one day, the back another day, and the sides on the last day. I only wish I could attach a photo of the final product. One of my best looking RCs.

As another reviewer said the HobbyWing ESC is a very nice addition to this kit and I can run my 2S and my 3S lipos here. The 3S is a bit larger and it would be nice if it came with two battery hold downs so I could fit larger batteries. I've been running almost exclusively 2S for a more scale speed experience. I think I might cry if I get too reckless and crash it after all that hard work on the body.

Tamiya 1999 Subaru Impreza STI Monte-Carlo 1/10 4WD Electric Rally Car Kit
Fairly easy chassis build with typical top-notch Tamiya parts quality. Body and wheels are excellent as always though putting on the decals and finishing the body takes way longer than actually building the car. The Hobbywing ESC is a fantastic inclusion.

Tamiya 1999 Subaru Impreza STI Monte-Carlo 1/10 4WD Electric Rally Car Kit
This is a great kit if it's your first one. It was a blast to assemble the whole model and paint the body and apply decals! My only advice is to pay attention to the size of the plastic bearings. The big plastic ones go on the center shaft!

Tamiya 1999 Subaru Impreza STI Monte-Carlo 1/10 4WD Electric Rally Car Kit
Honest review here; It's a basic Tamiya kit, don't expect much in stock form. It looks awesome, but leaves a lot of room for improvements if you actually plan to drive it much, especially off-road. I know it's a on-road chassis, but it has potential if you want to start adding upgrades. Build it right with bearings, CVAs, real shocks and oil diffs and you've got a decent runner. Also, I don't know why the huge step backwards in the steering design from the TT-01 chassis, you'll want to throw those shoulder screws out and put some real hardware in or it won't last very long.

Overall, killer looking car and I have driven it on scale trails a bit with a huge smile on my face! Tekin 13.5T setup has plenty of power for drifts and scale jumps.

Tamiya 1999 Subaru Impreza STI Monte-Carlo 1/10 4WD Electric Rally Car Kit
Its a TT-02 Chassis that youre paying for. I have a 3660 3300kv sensorless motor in mine but i blew up my esc. (not from the kit) :( Had it running pretty solidly with a top speed about 45mph with the stock plastic? bushing bearing things. Put an O ring or two in with the steering system and all slop is gone. Thanks again Amain. About 2-3 week shipping to western Canada.

Tamiya 1999 Subaru Impreza STI Monte-Carlo 1/10 4WD Electric Rally Car Kit
Typical Tamiya kit, which is to say excellent in my opinion, nice detailed body. The only thing I am not a fan of is putting on stickers, which there are a lot of. I am also not a fan of painting, but I can force myself to have patience for that. Tons of upgrades and options available. If you haven't built an RC car, I highly suggest you at least do one.

Tamiya 1999 Subaru Impreza STI Monte-Carlo 1/10 4WD Electric Rally Car Kit
Like all the TT02 variants, this kit assembled easily. I did add a couple upgrades like bearings and CVA oil filled shocks. Have not actually driven it yet, but I suspect it will perform like my other TT02 car. Body and graphics look great and the gold wheels set it
off.

Tamiya 1999 Subaru Impreza STI Monte-Carlo 1/10 4WD Electric Rally Car Kit
I got nothing to say bad about the kit. A very easy kit to work on and quite fun to drive around. Planning to built it as a rally off road since I never experience the rally version of the TT-02 so this be the first I would work on. The only reason why I wanted this specific chassis is because I just wanted the body it comes with and put it on my TT-02 SRX chassis that built last year. That body fits well on that chassis with out having any issues adjusting it. Definitely recommend this chassis to everyone to work on and the great experience on how to built kits.

Tamiya 1999 Subaru Impreza STI Monte-Carlo 1/10 4WD Electric Rally Car Kit
Really pleasant build, and with a few key upgrades the kit feels similar in poise to other more modern options. Minus 1 star to Tamiya- it’s 2023 my friends. Time to include bearings and oil dampers in your kits. The joy of building a Tamiya IS tough to beat. Considering one? If you have the budget for bearings and shocks too, absolutely! Or, if you have access to a box-stock class that Might work too. Just don’t expect blistering performance. This is a great way to get started with building kits and becoming a better mechanic. Or to revive the joy of building after becoming accustomed to the RTR life.
