Model Kit Overview:
Tamiya 1/35 Universal Carrier Mk.II Model Kit. During WWII, the British army used small-sized fully tracked weapon carriers famously known as “Bren Gun Carriers." This 1/35 scale plastic assembly kit model reproduces one of those carriers, the Universal Carrier Mk.II, which was the largest produced in the carrier series. The open-top compartment has been realistically reproduced with meticulous attention to detail including the seats and radio equipment. This model kit also includes detailed figures such as the three European Front and the two North African Front figures, along with firearms such as the Bren machine gun and two Enfield rifles.
The Universal Carrier was a British tracked light armored vehicle from the Second World War. The first prototypes were introduced in 1935, and production was between 1936 and 1945. As many as 75,000 of this vehicle and its variants were manufactured, which makes this the most frequently produced British armored vehicle during the Second World War. The Universal Carrier was powered by a Ford GAE or GAEA engine with 65hp. The armament of the vehicle varied, but most often consisted of the 7.7mm Bren machine gun. This armored vehicle was used on all fronts where the British Army fought in WWII, from the campaign in France in 1940 to the Far East against Japanese troops up until 1945.
