Not buying any more Spektrum products.
I heard from a friend that Spektrum Transmitters and Receivers are great. Unfortunately, the one I got was terrible. I had huge issues with the SR6100AT Receiver. It wouldn't connect or it would connect and then not be connected the next day. Or only throttle would work and no steering. Yes, I checked everything for shorts and it was the receiver which has a problem. It also has a built-in vehicle stability control system which is awful if you want to drift. Fortunately, it can be disabled, which is good.
I contacted Spektrum to get a warranty repair on the malfunctioning SR6100AT Receiver and they want a very high amount of money for return shipping. This is really frustrating and pretty clear that they don't stand behind their product. I'm fine with paying for shipping to get the tiny receiver to them but they want $24.00 USD for return shipping - that's ridiculous.
I won't be buying anymore Spektrum products.
Been using for a year with out any issues. Lots of adjustments. If I had to buy pick it be nice if it was a bit smaller.
Bought mine in 2020 and it's never failed. I haven't been gentle with it either. No padded case for this one, it just goes in the plastic bin with some tools and a buggy when being transported to/from the track.
Early in, I removed the AA battery tray and replaced the connector on the battery wiring with a Futaba servo style connector to work with an Integy LiFe 2100mah battery. Had to Dremel some of the plastic in the battery compartment to make room for the rechargeable pack, but it was an easy job. No more AA's!
My power button was somewhat prone to sticking in, but I removed it (have to open the radio up, which is easy) and cleaned it up a bit, sanding some of the button's inner surfaces so they would no longer have any friction to the shell of the transmitter. Problem fixed for good.
The lack of a backlight hasn't been a problem for me, but what has been somewhat problematic is the speaker being a bit screwed up on my particular unit. It sounds like the radio is always in the midst of puberty, like its voice is cracking. To anyone that's ever heard the buzzer in the old 80s / early 90s Toyotas like what my pickup has, it's kinda like that. Normally not a big deal, but I use the timer function when running nitro buggy so that it counts down to let me know when to pit for fuel. With all the sounds of nitro buggies, it's difficult to hear the beep sometimes, and the issue is made way worse due to mine having its voice-cracking issue.
Otherwise, I've had good luck with my DX5C over these 4 years. I even set it to allow me to dial in the brake level on the fly with my thumb, which has been a treat. I'm considering replacing it with a Noble radio just to get the haptic feedback (vibrate like a phone) since that sounds ideal for running nitro, and whether I change or not, I am still satisfied with all the years of service I've got out of my DX5C.
Absolutely love it, the menu can be a bit overwhelming coming from a rtr controller, but beyond fantastic product.
i would be very happy if it had bolth worked, the receiver got random inputs and would only turn one way and not have break. the radio is great.
Excellent quality for the money and easy to program and use. Big step up from RTR radios without breaking the bank.
The AVC feature on is something that I'm not really interested in, but it's neat to have if I ever decide to play with it.
Always intrigued by the SMART telemetry system of Spektrum. Also wanted a remote to connect to a few Spektrum receiver equipped cars. Decided to give the Dxc5 a try.l, so far the remote works flawlessly. The ability to finely tune/control AVC is what I love most. Screen is easy to see, buttons feels nice, very simple to use.
Great customization with this controller! The precise feel when controlling my vehicles is outstanding!
This thing is amazing! Lots of channels, easy to use and understand. Can have multiple profiles for different rigs from crawlers, 4 wheel, steer, race, to drift and beyond. Lots of customization to dial in your rig. Definitely recommend.
Great Radio! it is a little bit confusing at first because the book that came with mine was not for the one with the SR6100AT Receiver. but I would recommend this radio to anyone just getting into the hobby! The book leaves a little more to be desired, the screen could use some sort of backlighting, and the rubber padding on the wheel needs to be secured somehow, as mine starts to slide around after about 5 mins of use.
So far loving everything about this transmitter. The instruction booklet is your friend. Easy to get the hang of. Feels nice in your hand.
So far I like the features of the transmitter but the rolling feature button is way to sensitive and hard to get to the right feature, pain in the ass
Its amazing works great with all my excesseries I would recommend it to anyone
So far I think it’s pretty cool but I need to more thing so I can test it ont
Awesome and well priced. Love the features quick and responsive
Great RTR upgrade! I have my Lasernut, Infraction and Typhon on the DX5C. Adding AVC was cool on the Typhon. Controling AVC is much more granular than on the DX3. The quality feel of the transmitter make it hard to go back to the RTR transmitters. Great purchase. Not to difficult to setup either BTW.
