First off, this engine had a lot of pinch when brand new. This is not a bad thing if you know how to work on glow engines. You have two options available straight away; either install the second, included, head shim to lower the compression slightly or take a heat gun and heat the head up to operating temperature before trying to start the engine. It's actually recommended that you pre-heat glow engines before starting them anyway as the operating tolerances are measured at operating temperature. Glow engines usually do not suffer fools so heed this advice to save your starting equipment.
The engine broke in easily though I did end up at 6 hours clockwise from the factory break in setting on the HSN. This is likely due to my location taking ambient temperature and humidity into consideration. Even at this setting I had to wrap the head slightly to maintain 220°, without wrap it would barely break 200°; I was happy with the amount of fuel blowing out the exhaust for the purpose of break in.
At tank 9 I leaned it out another three hours and began tuning for power. For what this engine cost, I extremely happy with it. Power output is excellent, the powerband is very smooth and fuel economy is very good. I was also breaking in an economy Novi and I felt this engine was the better of the two. Time will tell if it holds up compared to my $300+ engines but as of right now, I'm impressed.
Yes,Engine is Tight!!
But That's what you want!!
Just takes a Little Patience and "Experience" to Deal With A Very High Performance Engine!!
Otherwise Stick To Electric Model Veicles...
