Monster is appropriate. I swapped out my very capable Savox 2274SG (relegated to backup duties in my spare buggy) and installed the 2290 into my Tekno eb48.4. Compared to the 2274 the 2290 is noticeably smoother and quieter, helped in part by the very nice metal casing. Where the 2274 liked to chat a little at centre the 2290 centres no issues then silence. The Tekno specifies 300 plus oz-in for steering, at 555.5 oz-in @ 6v the 2290 makes that number with plenty of room to spare. Unless you're using some form of exponential speed-up on your transmitter or have the reflexes of an arrow catching ninja this servo will keep up with steering inputs and faithfully steer the wheels whether doing 8mph or 50mph and unlike the super fast servos it will do so smoothly and more forgivingly. Can't report durability but if it holds up as well as the 2274 then awesome. The 2290 is a nice monster to have under the hood
Works great, no issues turning the big honking tires in my Xmaxx!
Monster torque and fast! You will need to file the inside of the passenger side servo ears to fit your TRX4 as the stock Traxxas 2075x servo ears are longer then the industry standard. You will also need a servo extension. I used the ProTek RC heavy duty 15cm (6") servo extension.
This thing has enough torque to move the wheels on my 20lb 8x8 easily, though it does have 2 of them (1 for each steering axle) and its even quiet while doing it. Great servo will be back for more.
Got the servo for my maxx. Absolutely great. Turns my 3.8 badlands with ease.
Upgrade from my other savox 1210SG servo in my trx4 defender. I needed something with a little more ompfff to turn the 2.2’ tired on a heavy trail truck so I pulled the trigger on this one. Installation was a breeze the cable it comes with almost reached my radio box but my trx4 has a lift kit so I had to get a servo extension cable to make up but if you looking for a upgrade for your heavy trail truck or rock racer give this savox 2290SG a try and it’s not glitchy either
I hate writing reviews without using the product but it seems my servo may have come with information some people may find useful.
Box specs on my servo read (yes, I looked at it several times) @7.4v speed 1.3 torque 763.8 oz-in / @8.4 speed .11 torque 972.1 oz-in
Seems Savox must have improved the specs but not updated on their own site. I've looked around a little and have not seen this apparent new spec listed anywhere.
Also to be sure I had the correct servo in hand, I went to my orders and clicked on the product to bring me here for this review in an effort to ensure I didn't miss read what I ordered.
Anyways, enjoy the updated specs.
Amazing servo! I will definitely be buying more and putting them in all my crawlers it's fast with lots of torque and quiet compared to other I have had.
What a wonderful experience. Thank you so much for my servos. They were here on time properly and you guys had them in stock and that I really appreciate that.
Loving it. Strong and smooth. Had a 333oz. Put this on and my steering problems disappeared. On a custom Wraith.
THE BEST. I've been through dozens of servos, a friend of mine recommended this beast last year and now I run them in all my racers and bsshers- even my 6s Kraton. The speed and response time is second to none and the durability is terrifyingly good. I was very skeptical about the price, but can confirm it paid for itself after a nice day of bashing!
Great servo! One of the best in its class.
Thank you for the fast delivery.
Excellent servo by a great company it’s fast and precise no issues at all
Man these servos are truly awesome! Running them in a rc8b3.2 and i couldn't ask for any thing else. Of your on the fence about getting them for your ride just do it you wouldn't be disappointed.
Savox SB-2290SG Black Edition Monster Torque Brushless Steel Gear Servo [SAV-SB-2290SG] Great servo. I’m running two on my Bomber with duel steering and 5.57” Pit Pulls. It’s probably more than I need. They can sure take a beating with no issues.
Love this servo. I have purchased 5 of these. Run them in my crawlers and mega mud trucks. I have been running savox in all of my rc's for over 11 years and have not had any issues. Quality products. Will continue to support savox.
I love these servos. I put them in all of my crawlers. I love the torque and I never have any problems at all
I have three of the SB-2290Sg servos in severs trucks. I’ve never had a single problem with any of them. Very strong and plenty fast enough for a crawler. I run them at 8v..
I really do love savox but the only issue I seem to have is that when I test my servos from savox the first pul is what the say but then it loses a lot of power for the second pull. But then it evens out at like 100 oz of tourqe less.
Excellent servo to use for your 100cc airplane especially on rudder. My normal set-up is Savox SV 1270TG on all controls except for rudder where I use the SB-2290 as it has monster torque and speed as well as Savox SC 1267SG for throttle. So far had 300 Flights on my EF SLICK 580 100cc using Savox servos only (1267-1270-2290) and absolutely no issues. Love the brand and will continue to patronize all Savox products
