Born from the ingenuity of retired racer Carroll Shelby, the original 1962 Cobra emerged from the transformation of a British AC Ace roadster by Shelby's expert team in Los Angeles. Fueled by Ford small-block V-8 engines, Shelby's early Cobras quickly gained renown on the streets and dominated the tracks. In a relentless pursuit of performance, Shelby unleashed Ford's mighty big-block 427-cubic-inch V8 in 1965, propelling the Cobra to extraordinary speeds with about 425 horsepower, achieving a mind-boggling 0-60 mph time of under four seconds.
