I have owned 3 of these units in 2 trucks: a Capra and a RBX10 Ryft.
I am very happy with the finish and the power. Even under 6 volts they are strong. At 7.4, they are *the best money can buy*.
Serious problem hence knocking off two stars:
I ran my Capra the other day through a lot of muddy puddles and got some amazing slow motion video… the next day, the steering would erratically cut out. As this unit is advertised as submersible, I first replaced the receiver.. that didn’t fix it./ then replaced the ESC… still didn’t fix it!!! Last thing to test was swapping out the servo: problem fixed. The little muddy puddles fried the Reefs Raw 500 “submersible” servo!
To absolutely verify this, I disassembled it and indeed found water inside and it smelled of burnt, shorted out electronics. I noticed no defects or wear marks of any kind on the case and the rubber seals were properly intact.
I am hoping it was a fluke… if it happens again, I am writing the manufacturer.
Excellent servo, running mine at 7.4v w/HW1080 no bec and it performs amazingly. Will buy another
Purchased my first Reefs RC RAW 500 steering servo because it had the best specs for torque output at 7.4V (500 oz), being "waterproof submersible" (as opposed to only being "waterproof") and for its craftsmanship/appearance. After a couple months use, I remain thoroughly impressed and now have RAW 500s installed in my two higher level crawlers. And the RAW 500 should remain as my 'go-to' steering servo for new crawler builds until something better surfaces.
Got this for my TRX4. Great servo. Very fast and strong even at the stock 6.0v. Running it with stock receiver and hobbywing axe esc. So happy I can turn my wheels when I’m in a jam and get out of them now. The waterproof features sold me as I like to run mine in creeks often.
I own two of these servos now and will probably be buying a third. I have them in my 1:10 SC Trucks. Plenty of torque to move those bigger wheels and responsive enough for the track. Next one will be going in the Sledge.
Not the fastest servo! However I run it with my enduro senduro HD and i love it, very strong, and reliable. Very consistent.
I have this in both the Kraton 6s and E-Revo2.0. Both installed no problem and have been great, loads of speed and power just don't forget the 25t servo horn
Quiet , Beautiful, Strong & Fast. These are the reasons I keep going back to this Raw500 servo. Nothing else out there meets all those criteria.
I have bought eight of them so far and will continue with them.
Really like this servo after trying a few brands. This one has mega power super solid, and responsive. Did i mention quiet.. not noisy at all and H2o proof. Getting 2 more no doubt.
Good reliable servo, I have it in my vs410 pushing around 4.7” boggers on the rocks with ease. The servo barely warms up after 1/2 hour of hard crawling on 7.4v
I am very happy with the servo. It's fast and strong. I replaced the factory Vanquish 200 oz servo on the VS4-10. A big difference.
Best servo i have use. I have it in my ryft maxx bomber wraith and more best servo
This servo is a good choice for the Losi LMT as a upgraded servo.
Has plenty of torque and speed.
The alloy case is a great feature for the abuse that a LMT can dish out!
Reef’s servo’s, what’s there to say…they are the best! Picked the RAW 500 for my “King Sling”. I need to save up, cause I need 2 more, and a mini for my RYFT project.
Quality made and incredibly fast for how much tork it has.
You cant go wrong with a Reefs Raw 500. I have ran these servos with no problems on a few trucks.
I put this in the night before competition and it performed flawlessly. This is my first reefs servo. Would buy again.
Love Reefs RC servos, RAW5oo going strong I have now!
Easy instal way better then the factory servo on my element ecto
Hands down one of the best servos available. Strong, fast, quiet and reliable. Have 4 in various rigs but honestly one can do any job extremely well. There's a whole lot to say but most of it's been said. Haven't been able to fault any of mine yet. Only problem: now everything has to be reefs. Its hard not to get hooked if you have a few toys!
