The Redcat Wendigo 1/10 RTR 4WD Brushless Solid Axle Rock Racer is designed to look and handle like a full-scale rock racer. The Wendigo utilizes solid axles both front and rear, a steel frame chassis and oversized suspension components to create a purpose built true-to-scale rig!

Rock racing is similar to rock crawling, but with a wider range of obstacles and the drivers compete for the fastest time. Because rock racing demands so much from a vehicle, these trucks must be both capable and durable. Rock racers are faster than typical rock crawlers, which is why the Wendigo is fitted with a Hobbywing 60A brushless ESC and A 3300KV 540 size brushless motor. The Wendigo is capable of running 2S or 3S LIPO power.

The Wendigo features a front mounted motor, centrally mounted divorced transfer case and strategically placed battery tray. This setup offers excellent weight distribution which causes the Wendigo to behave predictably when climbing over obstacles. Proper balance is also important when putting on your race hat. The Wendigo is able to blast around high speed tracks and obstacles with a finesse not commonly found in solid axle RTR vehicles.

The Wendigo features 1.5mm steel ladder-type frame rails which provide a sturdy backbone for this vehicle. The wheelbase is adjustable from 334.7mm to 358.7mm, with 346.7mm being the stock configuration. The Wendigo’s gear boxes feature Mod1 gears and ball bearings. The heavy duty telescoping driveshafts provide reliable power delivery to the front and rear trussed axle housings. These axle housings feature diamond shaped pumpkins and upper trusses for rigidity. A metal spool ensures equal power transfer to both the left and right heavy duty straight axles, while a one piece pinion gear provides additional strength to the drivetrain.

The Wendigo’s aluminum body oil filled shocks have a threaded collar for quick adjustments to the vehicle's ride height. Each shock tower offers nine upper shock mounting positions for further suspension tuning. Heavy duty 5mm steel suspension links are used in the Wendigo’s front and rear suspension. An adjustable rear sway bar helps to minimize torque twist and adds stability during high speed cornering.

A rock racer wouldn’t be complete without high quality off road tires and wheels. The Wendigo sits on licensed Interco Super Swamper 2.2” tires which are mounted to licensed Raceline Avenger wheels. The Super Swampers scooped tread lugs provide excellent forward grip on dirt, grass, pavement, rocks, mud and snow. The aggressive tread design and lug spacing release dirt and debris, keeping the tire clean for the next obstacle. Side lugs allow the Wendigo to achieve grip while squeezing between two large rocks, through washouts and other canyon-like obstacles.

High performance tires deserve a high performance wheel. The Raceline Avenger wheels are precision made with the right amount of offset and superior durability.

Many scale details and accessories come standard with the Redcat Wendigo to ensure users get the very best visual experience from their vehicle. This Rock Racer features a realistic racing body with narrowed rear quarters and a full roll cage. Additional scale details include a driver and co-pilot with adjustable helmet visors, a realistic navigation screen, rear fuel cell and a radiator with twin cooling fans.

Redcat Wendigo 1/10 RTR 4WD Brushless Solid Axle Rock Racer
I can't say enough good things about this truck!

It's just about everything I wanted out of a truck right out of the box. I run it on a 3s battery and it's a BEAST. It honestly has too much power on 3s and I mean that in a good way. It's fast enough to scare me a bit at full throttle. Jumps like a champ, crawls over all kinds of stuff. It's a fast basher that has the roots of a rock crawler so if you want a speedy truck that can rip donuts and blast jumps but also handle some light crawling then this is your jam.

It doesn't have much low end torque with the stock setup so crawling isn't the easiest but it can do a bit and you could always change parts if you want more slow speed control. And rock bouncing? Yeah it likes that. Keep the rpms up and it'll get through one way or another haha. It's not the most stable truck at high speeds but it's so much fun to keep it just on the edge of control. It's not the best in any one category but it might be the best at every category.

If you buy this make sure you also have a bottle of tire glue handy because it rips the stock glue job off fast but once you clean and reglue them yourself they're solid. I also recommend ordering a couple of spare pinion gears for the driveshaft as it has enough power to break those if you really beat on it. And check your lug nuts and all other bolts on the truck often. I usually snug the wheels a few times per session and check the servo horn bolt and track bar bolts at the same interval and snug the rest of the bolts every few sessions as I clean it. If you're going to bash on it like I do you're going to break stuff just like anything you beat on so some mechanical knowledge is a good idea but it's a really simple truck so as long as you know lefty loosey righty tighty then you'll be fine. And I personally love that this truck has the power and speed to tear itself up sometimes. Anything less and I'd get bored.

Redcat Wendigo 1/10 RTR 4WD Brushless Solid Axle Rock Racer
Expensive, but fun, junk. I've had mine for a little over a year. It arrived broken, Redcat made it right. They sent replacement parts immediately. Since then though, it has broken and lost many parts. All of which my local hobby store doesn't carry.

Order, wait, replace, get almost a full pack through it and it breaks again.

It's fun when it hasn't broken itself. I want to repower it as a dedicated crawler and see if that changes my mind. I would recommend against it in it's RTR form though.

Redcat Wendigo 1/10 RTR 4WD Brushless Solid Axle Rock Racer
This thing is an unrefined, over powered beast of fun on four wheels. Backend is a little sloppy out of the box. This is not a crawler, low speed modulation is poor due to sensor less, but strap a 50C 3S battery to rip around the backyard. A light kit would be nice for the big headlights, but will be easy enough to make my own. Hopefully, I can take it to the beach some time and open it up.

Redcat Wendigo 1/10 RTR 4WD Brushless Solid Axle Rock Racer
What a robust and fun-oriented rig! One of my favorite among 10 other RC's I own. I bought it because of the look, and it turned out to be a great surprize. It is based on the Redcat Gen8 chassis. It is very easy to flip over in tight turns because of its high center of gravity, large wheels, and front & rear locked differentials. Mine came with poorly glued tires, and some set screws came off because they had not been threadlocked. It is more manageable on 2S. The rear differential pinion bearing and one other small bearing inside the transmission got destroyed after about 15 runs, but being a small size, I understand. It's also very easy to work on, or convert to a crawler with proper electronics and gearing.

Redcat Wendigo 1/10 RTR 4WD Brushless Solid Axle Rock Racer
Order was easy and arrived ahead of time. Love RC, looks great and is really fast and powerful. Only drawback is steering is not very tight, heard about this a couple of years ago with Redcat, thought they would have fixed it. Still all in all its a good rc for money.

Redcat Wendigo 1/10 RTR 4WD Brushless Solid Axle Rock Racer
While this truck is still my fastest in my stable of racers and heavily modified trail/scale/crawlers, I find it just constantly tips over way way way too easily unless you run it on *yawn* 2s; then that takes the main redeeming quality away: it’s brute *speed*. I find this trade off to be a serious flaw.

I did add the red cat aluminum front and rear axles for longevity and strength, and various brushed, sensored motors in 540 and 550 range from Castle Creations, but short of heavy mods to chassis / shocks, I just can’t make this thing run without flipping over way way way more than all of my other trucks.

If you just crave speed over challenging terrain in a resonantly straight line or are a heavily experienced racer, maybe this thing is the answer. However, I do not recommend this animal to most other folks not in those two categories.
