Redcat Gen9 with Detailed International Harvester 800A Body

The Redcat Gen9 Scout 800A 1/10 4WD RTR Scale Rock Crawler has been designed with ingenuity and an obsession with detail. This truck features a two-speed transmission, updated portal axles, precision suspension geometry, zero bump steer, high grip tires, and a highly detailed body with a rear pivot mounting design.

The first thing to look at with this Gen9 is the officially licensed International Scout 800A body. The body is molded in three separate pieces which allows for a more realistic full-depth interior. The body is internally braced and uses a rear locking pivot mechanism with dual quarter turn fasteners up front. This system reliably secures the body in place and provides easy removal when needed. The interior uses injection molded dash, seats, pedals, shifters, door levers, window cranks, and much more to add incredible realism.

Powering the Gen9 is a powerful 550 motor and 40A ESC. The 2-speed transmission delivers power to the updated portal axles. The updates made to the portal axles have eliminated both bump steer and axle sway! This allows the driver to take more precise lines and ultimately have more vehicle control. Portal axles provide more ground clearance without needing bigger tires. On the GEN9, much of the gear reduction happens inside the portal axles, which means less chassis torque twist than in traditional axle shaft driven trail trucks.

  • Extremely detailed bodyshell inside and out
  • Updated portal axle design

Redcat Gen9 Scout 800A 1/10 4WD RTR Scale Rock Crawler (Blue)
Hello fellow crawlers , I’m a loyal fan and owner of 2 gen 2 scouts that were purchased from my local hobby shop in august 2019 , both gen 2 s have preformed quite well as we use them as trail trucks for about 5 plus hours each week , our course is 2:30 to 3 hours long to complete and we’ve put them through there paces , so when the gen 3 scouts were ready for purchase I ordered 1 in the blue color scheme , like a kind in a candy store the unboxing was awesome !! , lots of improvements in suspension- drive train and build quality over the gen2 scouts , redcat really did it, THANKS redcat , I have driven this on our home course and am very impressed with the performance, this gen3 has made our course look easy , can’t wait to see how it will do on our trail truck course , I do have one negative feedback and that is the gear train is as noisy as the gen 2 s we own , hopefully this will quiet down with use , all in all I would not hesitate to recommend this product to any rc scout and redcat fans !!

Redcat Gen9 Scout 800A 1/10 4WD RTR Scale Rock Crawler (Blue)
Great truck! This thing is a tank and a crawling beast! It will get over many obstacles that my 1/10 scale Blazers won't. Do yourself a favor, and pick up this value of a machine. As usual, the shipping and service from Amain was top notch!

Redcat Gen9 Scout 800A 1/10 4WD RTR Scale Rock Crawler (Blue)
After doing some trails and a little crawling with it I find this rig pretty decent. I find myself probably having more negative things to say than positive but I don’t regret giving it a shot. I got it on sale at$299. I wouldn’t pay more than that. I immediately upgraded the system with the HW Fusion 2300kv system. Didn’t really need it but wanted to make this comparable to a TRX that I do have experience with. Okay, let’s get to the things I really dislike. The biggest failure of this rig is the body mounting system. It’s simply terrible. It doesn’t lock in place. The body will literally come off while driving or tumbling. Second thing is the body doesn’t sit straight on the chassis. It’s always leaning. It’s kinda ridiculous actually. Again, just a bad mounting system altogether. Third, this rig is noisy as hell. It’s so loud. Other than that it’s a decent rig and capable. Me personally, still prefer the TRX if I’m being honest.

Redcat Gen9 Scout 800A 1/10 4WD RTR Scale Rock Crawler (Blue)
Worked about 5 mins and just turned into a brick. Redcat sent me a servo didn’t fix the problem. Asked them if I can just return it and they said no. Buy a traxxas or axial. 100% stay away
