Not happy with this set at all. I used the 2.0 hex un-screwing. On the fifth screw the tip broke off, not to mention it was machined crooked to begin with. Not so happy with the brand protek. I will be calling for a refund or upgrade of some sort
These tools key in really well with my hardware. However I am extremely disappointed in them. The shaft spins in the nut on the end very easily. All four in my first set went after tightening 1 screw each! Amain replaced them however the new set did exactly the same. Should have sent more on a different brand!
These hex are cheap in quality. I purchased a set and striped out two of the hexes. I have had other brands for years and still no issues. What a waste of money. I'll never buy protek again.
WAY too soft. Being careful I rounded the edges in the equivalent of taking the bolts out of a tlr 22 chassis twice. Much better options out there.
Protek TruTorque 2.0 Power Tool Tips: Overall 4.5 of 5 Stars. Ive had this set for a little over a year now, still working great with no issues. I believe the bad reviews could have had the older Gen 1 (Brown-Colored Shafts) TruTorque which admittedly were pretty poor.
While not quite as strong as MIP, these TruTorque 2.0 Tips are a very close 2nd place and will last just as long as MIP in 95% of cases, and are even made from similar steel. Ive even used these tips in a Milwaukee M18 (18V) Fuel Gen 3.5 1/4-in Impact Driver and not stripped them out. This makes them a far better value than MIP with a much higher performance-to-cost ratio.
At this point they are finally showing a bit of wear but are still working without slipping. The shafts are no longer perfectly straight either, but again they work fine. To be honest, I have abused them quite badly.
Ive used them as pry bars to pull things off, sometimes with so much force I was scared I was going to snap them. Using them in an 18V Brushless Impact wasn't the best idea either. But this just shows me that they are worth the money. So I say try them, I am sure you won't be disappointed especially considering the cost VS MIP.
I bought these around 4 months ago and have given them plenty of use in a power tool, with no trouble at all. I don't understand the variation in all the reviews between good and bad. Maybe there are inconsistencies between different different production batches. But mine are great.
So far so good, one thing about hardened metal is it is very strong, but on the flip side very brittle. I use these in my dewalt screwdriver and works perfect. For very tight screws/bolts I always use had tools to break them free. I think they work great! use them in my Nt48 and sct410.3
these tool tips are a must have when doing a fresh build or need to do a quick fix at the track between heats. toss them in your favorite power driver and save your wrists. haven't had an issue yet.
Amazing tool tips !! Stripped screws were a common issues prior this purchase , Ive forgotten what stripping screws is !!
?
Great set of metric hex tips! Long enough to access screws inside car/truck body and extremely accurate sizes. I've used other hex tips and aren't very accurate and they just end up stripping the screws, especially when using a power driver.
The older bad reviews must be from the 1st version of the "TruTorque" tips. I received mine earlier this week and they have been working extremely well! Ive been using these more than my MIP driver set!
I bought this tool set because the Hudy's were out. I've been pleased with this tool set. Hardened tips, good quality with a good price. I used them to assemble my new XRAY XB4 '14 and they worked great.
I love these tools, very solid and adaptable to any screwdriver hand or electric standard
Hate to give a one star. This is my first Protek item I haven't been happy with. Every since piece is crooked, very crooked. The tips also seem to be poor quality. I got these to replace associated tips I got over 10 years ago and went back to using my old ones. I should of spint more on MIP but I have always trusted Protek
These bits are fantastic. I use them all the time on all my RC cars. They have super sharp tight fittings and the steel is excellent quality. I use these especially when I have a stubborn bolt. I highly recommend the TruTorque line.
Broke the 1.5mm installing my driveshaft pins by hand, not even with a tool. Cheap chinese junk like every other tool nowadays.
Working on my SCX6 and removing driveshafts and the 3mm came apart from the bottom press fit part. lucky for my just got it and under warranty
These really come in handy when you have a bunch of those longer screws. Just use a manual driver when I get close
Absolutely awesome product, fit really well in my drill and are such a nice quality. I have been using them for over a year now maintaining several cars. They are not showing any excessive wear, strongly recommend.
I used the bits for about one month and the tips of the 1.5mm hex and 2mm hex already broke off. The quality doesn’t seem to be as good as they say it is.
