This is the ProTek R/C "TruTemp" Infrared Thermometer. Any temp gun can give you a reading, but the accuracy of that reading is always questioned - especially when dealing with cheap guns from questionable sources. When you have thousands of dollars invested into your equipment, a questionable number isn't good enough. You need accuracy, dependability and simplicity.

The "TruTemp" is a highly useful non-contact tool specially designed for use with R/C engines, motors, battery packs, battery chargers, electronic speed controllers, as well as hundreds of other applications. To use, simply aim the infrared thermometer at the target and press the measurement button to quickly and easily display the surface temperatures.

Most people think a cheap temp gun is good enough, but cheap temp guns provide untrustworthy measurements. Put your equipment in the hands of precision, with the ProTek R/C TruTemp.

ProTek RC "TruTemp" Infrared Thermometer
Mine is way off also, reads 231 degrees compared to fluke model 62 and duratrax flashpoint, both read 175 and 176 degrees, all tested at same time and all lenses cleaned, 2 other friends are way off also.at 70 degrees all are within 3 degrees, the hotter it gets the farther off it gets exponentially.

ProTek RC "TruTemp" Infrared Thermometer
Great temp gun! Easy to use, very accurate even when tested against much more expensive temp guns too. I have been using this gun for the past several weeks and it has worked extremely well.

ProTek RC "TruTemp" Infrared Thermometer
The Tru Temp works awesome. It's easy to read at night for club racing and is very accurate. I compared its temps to a very expensive unit and its reads the same (within a degree or two). I highly recommend especially if you're a racer. It also works great for my electric stuff too.

ProTek RC "TruTemp" Infrared Thermometer
I purchased this from a vendor of amains a little over a year ago. Have only used it a handful of time and all of a sudden started getting "OL" readings and other random numbers. It's way after warranty so I opened it up. The wires connecting the infrared lens had broken. Both the green and red wires. No clue how this could happen seeing how it's all enclosed other than just junk wire/connections. So much for that $40. Disappointed.

ProTek RC "TruTemp" Infrared Thermometer
This gets a single star because it turns on. The temperature reading is way off depending on the material scanned and regardless of the E value. Oddly, it seems like a software bug because the moment you save the E value, the actual temp is displayed and will more often than not, align with the actual temp of the object.

ProTek RC "TruTemp" Infrared Thermometer
Terrible from the beginning. Inaccurate readings. I have super cheap temp gun that actually works. I tried to upgrade but ended up wasting money. I'm a fan of ProTek but this one is truly disappointing.

ProTek RC "TruTemp" Infrared Thermometer
This is a POS!
1. The plastic in the housing is so poor that 9 out of 12 screw bosses were cracked already at delivery! The reason I found out? Pieces of the plastic was rattling inside the body, and the button kept sinking into the body when pressing it, so I just had to open it and find out. The screws bosses have not even survived the assembly procedure in China. You can actually feel how brittle the plastic is when using it.
2.There are buttons for measure mode min/max/continious, and temperature units. These cannot be set to a default position, so that the temp gun always wake up in the same mode, so you have to fiddle with that every time you take a measurment. When reading the temperature of an nitro engine it is always best to use the ”max” mode, but the temp gun starts in ”continious” mode. Farenheit is the unit used in USA so it might not cause any problem for most of you but if you are in Celsius world then it just sucks that the gun wake up in Farenheit.
This product is defenitely not anything you want to rely on at a race!
