ProTek RC "SureStart 2" Rechargeable Glow Igniter (1.2V/5000mAh)

This thing kicks butt. Had 2 of the Dynamite lipo drivers malfunction (one made it 9 months, the other only 1 day) and determined that lipo just isn't sorted out for the glow igniters quite yet. Good ol' NiMH works flawlessly for this, and doesn't require any fancy voltage regulating boards inside to fail or have questionable solder jobs on from the factory. I got 2 of these just so my starter box caddy is armed with backup in case my pit guy fumbles one into the beer cooler. Haven't had one not work so I don't know how long the batteries go on a charge till it's unable to fire up an engine. I just plug them up to an old Dynamite igniter wall charger for several hours before going to the track. Got an adapter to connect to a big charger that can do 2S-4S Lipos and such, but found out my charger must not be able to do 1 cell NiMH batteries. Not a big deal since unlike the 1300mah to 1800mah sizes you typically see, these ProTek igniters are a beefy 5000mah capacity. And ultimately, if your tune is somewhat in the ballpark and your engine still has ample pinch, you should only end up putting the igniter on for maybe like 5 seconds per start anyway, so maybe a grand total of something around 1 minute of glowing for a whole practice day of nitro. 5/5 would dine again.

Don’t bother with the pencil one. This is the beast you want. Holds the plug decent and more importantly, holds a charge. Will recommend.

great glow plug igniter. my pit caddie is full of them and never had a problem with any of them. usually last a weekend on a full charge.

Good luck starting your nitro engine without an igniter. This one works perfectly for such an application. Holds a charge for multiple weekends of engine starting duties.

Bought one last year some time when purchasing the HB D819RS. I've only had to charge it a few times and it lasts all day. Still out lasts a removable sub-c igniter in the pit box. Get one of these if you're looking for a good igniter!

`Is it just me having bad luck? I highly doubt it. This brand "Pro-Tek" glow igniter insultingly failed after only a dozen uses, and smoked out.

I AM BEGINNING TO TRULY BELIEVE THAT ALL PRO-TEK PRODUCTS ARE POORLY MADE PIECES OF GARBAGE AND ARE A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY!

AMAIN - PLEASE STOP CARRYING THIS BRAND! THEY SUCK!!!

This igniter last 3 charges and then start smoking....
