This is the ProTek R/C "Blue Flame" DC Nitro Engine Heater. The “Blue Flame” Engine Heater utilizes technology similar to that used by Formula 1, Indy Car and NASCAR racing teams to properly and safely pre-heat your nitro engine in 10 minutes to 140-160°F or 60-70°C. *Actual engine temperature and heating times may vary slightly based on power source and ambient temperature variances.

The ProTek R/C “Blue Flame” Engine Heater will pre-heat the critical internal parts of your nitro engine resulting in reduced wear and unnecessary stresses on critical internal parts including the crankshaft, connecting rod, piston and sleeve. Pre-heated engines also start-up smoother, easier, and reduce stresses on starter boxes. Fuel consumption is also reduced due to shorter on-track warm-up times. The engine heater is also perfect for new or newly rebuilt nitro engines due to the heating processes temporary reduction of mechanical "pinch" allowing for easier and safer start-ups.

Please Note: Engine heater will not fit O.S. low profile cooling heads, such as PTK-2611.

ProTek RC "Blue Flame" DC Nitro Engine Heater (Head Warmer)
I bought on of these back in December, and used it for the first time in April to heat up a brand new motor that I was breaking in for the season. On the very first use, the heating element burned clear through to the outer cover. I didn't do anything special; I installed it per the istructions with an 11.1 volt battery. Don't know if I got a bad unit, but definitely wasn't expecting that especially on the FIRST use. Of course, with the 90 day warranty, I was dead in the water on getting it replaced. Don't think I'll be buying another one of these.

ProTek RC "Blue Flame" DC Nitro Engine Heater (Head Warmer)
This heater seems to be well built and I really like having a low voltage cutoff and a temp control. The heater gets my engine up to 170-180° in a cycle or two....and that is my one complaint. Its a big COMPLAINT though. I DO NOT like the ten minute timer. There is no audible warning that the heater has turned off, and no way to adjust the timer to a longer duration. I do not want to babysit my car, just to be sure that my heater is still on and my engine is not getting cold again.

I would not buy this product again, due to the timer.

ProTek RC "Blue Flame" DC Nitro Engine Heater (Head Warmer)
Works good when it works. heating element and electronics are good quality but the cover is no good. you have to be very particular about how you tighten the strap and make sure you have good contact between the heating element and the head all the way around. If you don't have good contact all the heat will go into the cover material and burn it up in seconds. used this dozens of times without fault but the two times that I didn't fiddle with the fit to the head was enough to destroy it. This was used on an OS AD2 cooling head which is slightly tapered at the bottom. you have to force the material to overlap itself on the bottom to get a tight fit with this head.

ProTek RC "Blue Flame" DC Nitro Engine Heater (Head Warmer)
Great engine heater. I like the fact it has a low volt cutoff to protect lipo packs. Works great with 3s lipo and a 12v power supply.

This thing is awesome. It makes breaking in engines much easier and reduces stress on engines from cold starts. Plus you can use a 3 cell lipo to make it portable.

ProTek RC "Blue Flame" DC Nitro Engine Heater (Head Warmer)
Pros: It heats engine as intended. Since it runs on a battery it is easy to bring in the pit bag.

Cons: The 10 minute timer. If you are not constantly keeping an eye on it it will shut off and you are back to square one. The outer fabric is not good. I had this for 1 year and all of a sudden the material started tearing all around the heater.

ProTek RC "Blue Flame" DC Nitro Engine Heater (Head Warmer)
A homie told me about the engine heater, and I am glad he did. Was hesitant to purchase at first though because I am ol skool and would rather heat up the engine the old way. It's what I was used to! Engine heater is so much easier, convenient, and it saves time and money! I am sold! I use an old 12v PSU in the pits. 11.1v Lipo in pit lane. I cycle 1-2 times before EVERY (cold) run!!
It's only a Picco 3TT, but she likes to eat!!

ProTek RC "Blue Flame" DC Nitro Engine Heater (Head Warmer)
Protek is usually pretty good but my personal
Opinion is the quality isn’t there at the current price. The cloth material isn’t strong enough to last a season. It rips way too easily. Protek, please use stronger cloth material. Thanks

ItsJunk. The high temp burns or tears the cheap quality cloth material. Own 3 of these and the same with all of them. A friend has one also and its the same torn material. It ashame cause the heating element and electronics are good. If Protek was to change the cover to a quality material it would get a 5 star.

ProTek RC "Blue Flame" DC Nitro Engine Heater (Head Warmer)
This heater works perfectly!! As long as you use a 12v battery. The battery advertised for this heater is TERRIBLE!! Instead, I use the alligator clips to connect it to my car battery or a 12v motorcycle battery.

ProTek RC "Blue Flame" DC Nitro Engine Heater (Head Warmer)
Multi option power plugs and a great heat pad that are stitched together perfectly to fit around all basic nitro engines. Does not fit current LCG heads (OS, BULLIT) without a little homemade alteration, but otherwise a staple needed for your pit bag.

ProTek RC "Blue Flame" DC Nitro Engine Heater (Head Warmer)
Bought one of these to replace the hi-temp gun I was using to preheat my motor, and I was seriously impressed. Although disappointed that I didn't realize this was a battery operated heater, I bought a LiPo for this. Within a minute this thing is up to temp, one cycle and the motor is at 170.

ProTek RC "Blue Flame" DC Nitro Engine Heater (Head Warmer)
Works as advertised and I can usually get 6-8 cycles out of a single charge on my 3S LiPo. The unit is very handy for taking to pit row. On cold nights (30-45 degrees), I have to hit the power button a second time to bring the engine up to temp, but that is not too big of a deal. It's nice that there is an LED on the unit to let you know it's heating. I usually always hit the power button any time that I see the LED is off. After using an engine heater like the Blue Flame I wouldn't ever run an engine again without a heater.
