An early review with only a handful of battery packs through my new 1/8th scale buggy, an EB48.3
Due to running on a high bite indoor clay track, I wanted a servo that was both responsive and with good torque output. I settled on this MKS HBL599 as the stats looked good but was a bit worried as I had no experience with MKS as a brand before. The build and machine work just on the case is impressive, not cheap pot-metal cases here with machined holes and calling it a CNC part, this is a machined case with serious cooling fins. Running it off a Tekin RX8 GenII at 7 volts this thing is an absolute beast and centers perfectly with out constantly wander and searching for center, best digital brushless servo I have owned yet, others being Futaba, Airtronics and Savox. Not had my buggy in any major crashes so no major reports on durability yet but the servos is the best built one I have seen under $200.00, bar none.
The spline count for this is the same as Savox and Futaba, 25T.
Ive had this servo in my truggy ,worked flawlessly untill I upgraded my transmiter from sanwa mt4 to mt44 .now its got the jitters as the new sanwa signal is too fast .i dont expect it to last much longer .
I found this on the Sanwa site

About the digital servos specification
Model: All "SANWA" brand digital servos.
SANWA's digital servos were designed to improve a vehicle resoponse to the limit. As a result, the servos makes frizzling noise on neutral status and also the servo horn vibrates slightly. These symptoms are caused by the strict specification, however it does not affect product's performance. We would recommend you to feel the deffirence of the vehicle response.
So it looks like a Sanwa issue,
OK just an update on the servo .
I have raced a few times now @ 2 hours use ,servo gear set is worn ,ie,quite a bit of play .
A Main dont stock servo gear sets for these servos ,but they do have a kit for the HBL 380 which may fit ,but it has a 8mm spline .
Updated... the servo is still working well ,a bit more play in gears ,still cant get a repair kit for it though,. I have asked A Main about availability but got no reply yet .
Still . I need another steering servo for my new mugen eco truggy, and will stay with the mks 599 ,noisy or not they are still the most powerfull, fast, servo ive ever encountered.
A Main have not stocked the gear set for these servos yet ,they have plenty of other mks sets ,but no mks x6 599 .it would be great to know if they intend to have them or not !
I drive rc cars (1/8 scale truggy) since 2 years and fly since 7 years rc helis (3D). I have very good experience with MKS servos: I own 6 x HBL575 as swash servos (= 2 helis, 700 class) and they never led me down. Very durable (quite a few crashes) and very precise centering. Now I use the HBL599 in my Tekno EB48.3 - what should I write: just perfect. Brutal strong, very fast, precise centering, great quality. I'm sure they will last as long as one would expect it at this price tag. Compared to my buddies KO Propo RSx2 (Power H.C.) in the same rig the MKS HBL599 is faster and stronger on paper. But both of us do not notice any difference an the track (both of us use a Sanwa MT4s TX, both BECs on 7.4V).
By far the best servo to have for 1/8 application for buggy or truggy. Performance is outstanding. It will handle steering and throttle/brake application with ease. Quality is top notch. Don’t hesitate in purchasing the MKS 599. Some say, it was used to pull a school bus filled with children out of a river!
fastest responding servo. Second to none when it comes to performance. Build quality is not the best though. You can see and feel lines from machining. Gears are not the smoothest or quietest. Ko Propo rsx line of servos have the smoothest gears.
Mks is new to me thought i would try it in my 410.3/eb48.3sl absolutly love it! Ive had alot of other servos hitec protek ko propo this thing is a step above zero play witch makes my teknos steering super tite super smooth nice looking high quality beastly torque good speed. Havnt had long cant speak for durability but dont think i will have any problems.
I use this servo on flaps, on giant scale jets. This is a very powerful servo, solid gear train, and high-quality. A bit costly, however, you get what you pay for. Another very good MKS product.
Great servo great speed had the wrong servo sent the first time but was able to get in contact with A main and was. Able to speak with Colin very helpful made the order for the correct one for me and I have received it and it works great.
