Mikuni Gnosis HS202 Multi-Spoke Drift Wheels (Matte Silver) (2) (5mm Offset)
I bought these wheels as a result of buying new spec tires for a local Super G Drift competition and well… tires aren’t much use without wheels, am I right?! Lol

Anyway, sadly of all the choices, these were one of the few available and in stock at the time and were one of the more affordable choices. Yeah, I could’ve tried to get the actual wheels I wanted from overseas but I wasn’t about to spend more on shipping than I would for the wheels. I also needed them NOW and not next year (figuratively) like I would buying from overseas.

The wheels, as expected from Amain, came super quick despite being ordered during the July 4th weekend. One look at them and they were like jewelry! The flat silver just looks gorgeous in the light. Sure, they look like any other BBS LM-style wheels but the color is a bit shinier than the set of MST LM wheels, if you can believe that.

As for the fit, the wheels will work with popular drift tires used in competition such as the ReveD AS-01 and the Yokomo DR-C. I can confirm they fit on both as I own both tires. I will say that while you might think you don’t need them, I highly recommend to use either Yokomo Tire Tape (Yokomo ZR-DRM) or the Scale Reflex drift tire o-rings to mount these. While the Yokomo DR-C went on without issue and felt snug on the wheels, the ReveD felt a little loose which is weird because I had a much harder time mounting the AS-01 than the DR-C. Another thing I found that’s different than the touring car wheels I had been using previously is how the actual lip of the wheels are larger in contact area of the tire. While using the MST Universal Drift Tire Remover/Installer, I had zero issues mounting tires to these wheels, again as a result of the lip of the wheel mounting surface being wider and repositioning was fairly easy. But this of course is without any sort of tire mounting tape or o-rings. Your mileage may vary.

Another thing to consider is the width of your body in relation to the wheel offset as this is one area that anyone looking into buying a set needs to seriously consider. These wheels are meant to bodies that are 200mm in width; any body 190mm or narrower will require modifying or raising up so as not to rub the paint off while running. As an example, the wheels I bought are +5mm offset. On the Tamiya Mazda3 body I have, the wheels stick out far too wide and when turning, the tires were scraping the inner wheel wells. For this example, your options are to either raise the body or cut the arch so that the wheels can turn without scrubbing. However if you plan to cut the arches, I’d recommend putting a fender flare on to cover up the cuts. Unless you’re into the stanced look and don’t mind the scrubbing.

All in all, I rather like these wheels and while I may not run these on my current chassis, I will likely use these on a future project.
