This is the LRP Sphere Competition Electronic Speed Control from Reedy, that works with both Brushless and Brushed motors! LRP's exclusive Automatic Brushless/Brushed Adaptation. This pushes the convenient use of brushless and brushed motors to the next level. It detects the motor type and adjusts the correct brushless or brushed mode automatically without any switching or adjustment by the user. Therefore, no more manual setups are required after changing the motor type. The LRP SPHERE COMPETITION Brushless + Brushed will do this for you automatically!

Features four QC3-style modes which now enable the driver to adjust motor power, driving "feeling" in addition to the brake "feeling" adjustment. This means QC3-style adjustments for brushless motors AND brushed motors!

LRP’s secret IceDrive Design results in lower speedo temperature under all racing conditions. Sorry, no further details to be disclosed. Simply a step ahead of the competition

Pure forward/racing brake design. The design goal for the LRP SPHERE COMPETITION speed control was uncompromising and outstanding performance in top-level RC competition racing. In order to achieve this goal, the LRP engineering department had to develop a pure forward/racing brake design speed control.

LRP’s exclusive AutoCell System ensures that LiPo batteries can be used safely. The LRP SPHERE COMPETITION is ready for the next battery technology—Li-Po batteries!

The 4 modes of the LRP SPHERE COMPETITION Brushless+Brushed

1. AutoCell System

Two adjustable settings for the NiMH-LiPo adaptation:

  • NiMH/LiPo automatic adaptation
  • NiMH 4-7 cell racing mode

2. Power Profiles

ADPC™ (Advanced Digital Phase Control) Power Profiles for Brushless Motors. The LRP engineers developed 6 all-new ADPC™ power profiles to adjust the SPHERE COMPETITION to all track conditions perfectly. The Advanced Digital Phase Control is an all new brushless technology which results in more power and better driveability. Depending on the status of the car (start, acceleration out of a corner, and full speed on the straight) the ADPC software calculates the perfect motor management.

  • Extremely smooth for low-traction
  • Very linear
  • Linear, increased punch
  • Aggressive map TC
  • Very aggressive map TC
  • Super aggressive map TC

DEMS (Digital Engine Mapping System) Power Profiles for brushed motors. Quantum-style power programs.

  • Extremely smooth for low-traction
  • Very linear, maximum runtime
  • Linear, increased punch
  • Aggressive map, TC
  • Very aggressive map TC (6- to 12-turn motors)
  • Stock motor map, maximum power (17- to 27-turn motors only)

3. Initial Brake

The Sphere Competition digital speed control offers a Quantum-style Initial Brake adjustment for both brushless and brushed motors. 6 levels can be set from level 1 (linear brake) to level 6 (very aggressive brake). Initial Brake allows the driver to set a certain level of “hand-brake effect,” i.e., the driver can vary the minimum brake effect when applying the brakes.

4. Automatic Brake

The Sphere Competition digital speed control offers a Quantum-style Automatic Brake adjustment for both brushless and brushed motors. 6 levels can be set from level 0 (no Auto Brake) to level 6 (Max Auto Brake). Automatic brake allows the driver to set a slight braking action in neutral. This is especially important for brushless motors because they have no “natural” slow-down as customers are used to from all brushed motors.

Tip: With the LRP Sphere Competition set in automatic brake level 1, a car with a brushless motor will have the same “natural” slow down as a brushed motor without any automatic brake.

Sensored design. The design goal for the LRP Sphere Competition speed control was uncompromising and outstanding performance in top-level RC competition racing. In order to achieve this goal, the LRP engineering department had to develop a sensored design. Based on intensive design studies and track testing, this is the only way to achieve the same proportional drive feel and brake feel with a brushless motor the top drivers are used to from their brushed motors.

  • Motor Limit. Motor limit with brushless motors: Over 3.5 turns (for all available motors of today). Motor limit with brushed motors: Over 5 turns (for all available motors of today).
  • High performance 3.0A BEC. Strong and reliable to power all available servos, receivers, and personal transponders.
  • Cool-looking blue "Set" LED. Together with the yellow/red Mode-LED, it enhances the stylish “Blue is Better” motif.
  • Small in size and weight. With its Quantum-style design and a footprint of only 33.3 x 37.7 mm (in between the size of a QC3 and a IPC V7.1), the LRP Sphere Competition Brushless+Brushed digital speed control is incredibly small for a brushless speed control.
  • Multi-protection System. 3-way digital protection system against overload, over temperature, and short circuit.
  • External solder tabs. Due to the external solder tabs the power wires of the LRP QC3 can be replaced in seconds. Therefore it is simple to use the speedo in numerous cars.
  • High-performance 13AWG power wires. The development target for the LRP Sphere Competition speed control was uncompromising and outstanding performance in top level RC competition racing. In order to achieve this goal, the LRP engineering department decided to use high-performance 13AWG power wires as used in the QC3 without any connectors.
