This is the Kyosho Ultima RB6.6 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit. After the IFMAR Electric Off-Road World Championship in Ultra high grip surfaces such as artificial turf and carpet have become mainstream in off-road racing since the 2015 IFMAR Off-Road World Championships run at Yatabe Arena in Ibaraki, Japan. To stay ahead of these constantly evolving trends, Kyosho’s Ultima RB6 has been updated into the 6.6 model.

While maintaining the superiority of the proven suspension and steering in the RB6, the 6.6 model features a selection of 4 different gearboxes: “Rear Motor”; “3 Gear Midship”; “4 Gear Midship”, and “Lowdown Midship”. In addition to the ever-reliable rear motor for looser surfaces, the 6.6 features midship transmissions for higher grip dirt surfaces and a lower C of G lowdown midship transmission for ultra high-grip surfaces such as artificial turf and carpet.

With detailed precision setting capability, this single machine is compatible with any surface type that a racer is required to drive on. Also, the wider 7075-T6 grade main chassis with side guards is unchanged to deliver the cornering advantages of its width. When using the midship layout, either straight or sideways battery mounting orientation can be used to fine-tune the chassis weight distribution effect on running performance.

In-Depth Features:

  • Advanced Specifications: high rigidity 7075-T6 main chassis, surface-tracing Big Bore shocks and choice of motor layout.
  • 7075 Chassis: With the RB6 model’s width, the 7075-T6 grade main chassis features increased rigidity and lower center of gravity to perform in both high-speed and high-grip race conditions.
  • Battery Layout: Battery can be oriented straight or sideways (with midship layout) for precision adjustment of chassis weight distribution to suit the grip and layout of various racing courses.
  • Adjustable Caster: Includes caster inserts that allow 3 caster angle settings: 0°, 2° and 4°. Precision setting adjustment enables superior cornering and performance.
  • Superior Crash Resistance & Durability: Uses the same one-piece steel wheel shafts, hardened ball ends and chrome-moly steel adjustable tie rods as the previous model for superior crash resistance and durability.
  • Gull-Wing Arms: Features gull-wing shaped suspension arms that enable maximum possible stroke from the rear shocks. Equipped with medium shock springs for extra rear grip.

Features:

  • Features upgraded specifications based on the Ultima RB6 (KYO34301) model released on May in 2015.
  • Highly adaptable chassis settings with choice of lowdown midship motor, midship motor and rear motor configurations.
  • Ball differential features long life and superior precision tungsten diff balls.
  • Features one-piece wheel shafts made from high-strength steel.
  • Clamp screw aluminum hex wheel hubs provide secure traction and precise rotation on the rear.
  • Large capacity slipper clutch is compatible with high power motors.
  • Gun metallic anodized aluminum parts produce a formidable looking finish.
  • Includes X-GEAR ball diff grease, high graphite grease and shock springs.

Kyosho Ultima RB6.6 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit
This kit comes with everything needed for any transmission layout currently available. The three gear lay-down with transverse battery forward feels amazing. This kit comes with several different thicknesses of battery foams allowing you to move your battery forward or back to adjust for weight bias. For each layout, motor plates and spur gear covers are provided. You might need a few items which are not included with the kit: aluminum steering wipers and rack, aluminum or brass F/R and R/R hinge pin holders, aluminum or brass kick angle plate, and a metal servo horn. It might be a good idea to buy another body since you trim the body based on transmission layout. There is a tiny amount of space for an ESC and receiver in the laydown layout. To give me a little more room, I trimmed the battery stop and moved it back. With a low-profile servo, like the ProTek 160T, you'll have plenty of room after 'modifying' the battery stop. I install a Tekin RS G2 ESC and a Futaba 204 receiver with little spatial issues. I used 14 gauge wire, too. A standard sensor wire will reach between motor and front mounted ESC with no problem. My RB6.6 has a very 'clean' look with wires routed around the battery on the motor side. Kyosho has done a wonderful job on this kit and it will be a monster on high traction tracks in the laydown configuration. If that doesn't work, it is very easy to change to a three gear stand-up mid motor.

Kyosho Ultima RB6.6 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit
Best 1/10 buggy I have ever owned. Car handles like a dream. Sharp steering, responsive, great rear traction, jumps well. There is nothing left for this car to desire.

Kyosho Ultima RB6.6 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit
The packaging was on par with the associated but the build was not. It takes a patient and careful attention to detail. It comes with 3-4 laydown, 3-4 midship, and outboard as well, I did the 3 gear laydown. I did have to make a few mods to the battery area to make room for my equipment (lrp flow, 4pl receiver and savox servo) Once together, everything was buttery smooth from the shocks and steering to transmission and movement of the arms and turnbuckles. On the track, holy batman!!! Granted I installed a 6.5 motor, but it hauls like crazy. That buttery smooth steering enables for very quick centering of the servo and and the torque is not lost if bushings were used. The plastic was a little bit of a concern, but once on the track(which was indoor carpet) it took the abuse of a new driver and never tweaked once. Definitely a good buy with my discount.

Kyosho Ultima RB6.6 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit
Kyosho K cars are simply the best. As others here have said they are super HIGH quality! The cars are so durable and strong. Can't begin to tell you some of the extremely hard hits and crashes my Kyosho RB's have taken and just shrugged off... The RB.6 and now the RB 6.6 are the most "Modular" of any of the 2wd buggies. Rear motor, mid motor, 3 gear, 4 gear lay down, the K car can be configured any way you want! And then there is the RZ-6 shaft drive conversion for even more options... K car is the best car!

Kyosho Ultima RB6.6 1/10 2WD Electric Buggy Kit
Kit is a great value, even though it is more money than most other popular kits. It has most of the components for any setup (may want stiffer springs for high-bite). The quality of the components is noticeably better than some of the other kits I have built. As the other reviews state, it goes together slower than kits like the B6. The manual isn't loaded with errors, but you really have to pay attention to what you are doing. Have some calipers handy to verify all your parts and it will be a breeze. Glad I pulled the trigger on this one.
