The Kyosho Fazer Mk2 FZ02L 1969 Chevy Chevy El Camino ReadySet takes the standard Fazer touring car chassis and combines it with the latest “Ultra Scale Body” to more accurately replicate the fine details of the full size car. A simplified design with fewer parts has improved maintenance efficiency and reduced weight while core strength and rigidity has been increased through new materials and ribbing and stiffeners on front and rear. In addition, the symmetrical chassis design synergizes excellent front-rear balance through the suspension with responsive control, irrespective of power source. Featuring slipper clutch, front & rear gear differentials, oil shocks and full ball bearing specs, the high durability and impact resistance allows drivers to unleash the full potential of the chassis. Brake disc wheel hubs with two different offsets (0mm, +5mm) provide compatibility with 190mm and 200mm width body styles and allows the wheelbase to be adjusted to 260mm by replacing some parts (sold separately) for compatibility with other 1/10 scale body styles, in addition to the body included. The Readyset package comes fully assembled and includes everything except charger and battery for the chassis, and batteries for the transmitter.

I pulled out all the stock electronics immediately and replaced them with a Hobbywing QuicRun 3652SL 3250KV brushless motor and a 10BL60 ESC. With these upgrades, it’s a quick ripper that easily hits 30mph while staying cool. The chassis is incredibly easy to work on—most screws are the same size, and disassembly/reassembly is straightforward. I also added sway bars and tuned the diffs (60K CST in the front, 4K CST in the rear) to dial in the handling. The ability to tweak this car to your driving style is one of its strongest points.
However, there are some limitations. The lack of toe adjustment is disappointing, and the stock tires don’t hold up long if you’re pushing the car hard. Be prepared for road debris—without inner fenders, the inside of the body gets filthy after every run. Also, keep a set of spare screws on hand. You can strip screw heads if you’re using a bad bit, but that’s on the tool, not the car. The sale price of $175 made this an incredible value for upgrades, and I’ve sincerely enjoyed every moment working on this car.
For anyone considering the Fazer MK2, it’s a fantastic platform for hobbyists who love tinkering. With a little work, it can be tuned to fit your exact style, and it’s a joy to drive once it’s dialed in. Highly recommended for the price point and the fun of making it your own!
