It’s bigger, it’s faster, it’s stronger... the Savage XL Flux is a basher’s dream machine! When you pair HPI Racing’s legendary Flux brushless power system with a virtually bulletproof drivetrain, you’ve got a monster truck that’s unstoppable! Everywhere you look the Savage XL Flux is beefed up to handle its awesome torque as well as any terrain or conditions you can throw at it. And because this beast is Ready-To-Run, you can be out terrorizing the competition right away.

Legendary Savage Durability
After over a decade of thrilling serious RC bashing performance, the HPI Savage has earned a reputation for being the toughest monster truck you can find. A pair of XL-Long 2.5mm thick aluminum Twin Vertical Plates (TVP) provide the backbone of the Savage, and a thick 7075 aluminum motor plate holds the super-powerful FLUX 2200Kv motor in place. The XL-Wide Savage suspension is ultra-tough, with super-thick webbed suspension arms and uprights built to handle gigantic jumps, rough landings, rolls and full-speed crashes. Super heavy-duty, bulletproof drivetrain parts like thick steel dogbones, all-metal transmission gears, sintered steel diff gears and metal diff cases make sure drivetrain can handle all the power of the XL-Powerful FLUX motor. Huge Big Bore dual-stage oil-filled shocks tame the roughest landings and terrain, giving you total control at all times!

Savage XL Design with Flux Power
Featuring a low-mounted FLUX 2200KV motor in place of the big-block nitro engine, a powerful FLUX 6S-capable speedo in place of the fuel tank, and twin battery boxes hanging on the outside to hold a variety of battery types. Power your Savage XL FLUX with a pair of matching LiPo batteries equipped with 2S 7.4v or a whopping 3S 11.1v power!

HPI Savage XL FLUX RTR 1/8 4WD Electric Monster Truck
I'm a 1980's Golden Era Rc'er! I have ove 30 years of RC experience. My review is based on quality, durability, value for dollar, and support.

The HPI SAVGE XL Is worth the money in comparison to anything else out there. Durability of of this truck is the Benchmark by which all others are gauged by.

The Motor is a Castle creations and the ESC has 5 manual program modes as outlined in the Manual. YOU do not need the HPI programer! The 5 manual modes are all you need;

However if you have a high end radio, you can achieve all the programming parameters through your radio and there is no need for the HPI programer.

Truck is top notch. better than I expected and I prefer it over the losi xxl2e and 3xxle. Why change a good thing. Some reviewers are saying there is no change to the truck, that is
false. The Slipper clutch has been updated and every thing on the truck is heavy duty.

I own the savage, vorza, baja5ss, and way too many RC's. The Savage is Great. Period.

Durability 5/5

performance 5/5

Handeling 5/5

Electronics 5/5

Servo 3/5

Tires 3/5

Body - subjective - I personally am not fond of it and will upgrade to proline.

Immediate competition is the new Losi 3xxle.

HPI Savage XL FLUX RTR 1/8 4WD Electric Monster Truck
Pros:
-Truck is insanely durable
-Good supply of factory and other hop-ups
-Very stable on variety of surfaces due to width of this truck
-Plenty of GO with just 4S
-Handles 6S without problem (looking at you e-revo)

Cons:
-Tires aren't very good. Terrible for trail driving and rough terrain.
-Steering servo is under powered, but usable.
-Body is not very durable, easily cracks and flakes apart
-Aftermarket body selection is poor

Mehs:
-Radio is average, much less useful than the TQi, but it works
-ESC is actually pretty good, but you need to pay for HPI's expensive programmer to use all the features. The last gen flux HP came with a castle esc which would've been preferred here. That being said I had no problems with ESC and its reliability.

Overall, better truck in my opinion than E-revo or E-maxx (I know, I own them all). That being said the E-revo comes with a better radio, ESC, and servo setup from stock. There are also tons of body options for E-revo. If you don't mind upgrading the steering servo and tires, the SAVAGE XL is a far more dependable and durable vehicle than E-revo.

HPI Savage XL FLUX RTR 1/8 4WD Electric Monster Truck
The power system is awesome the rest of this truck is just the same old Savage which is pretty disappointing that NOTHING at all is new to this truck. Not worth the price.
