The Hot Racing Axial SCX24 Reservoir Friction Damper Shocks were developed for the Axial SCX24, but may be compatible with other similar mini/micro crawlers as well. These shocks are friction damped, requiring only a partial filling of silicone oil. These shocks feature a machined faux reservoir shock cap for realistic scale looks, and include a full set of soft and hard springs to allow tuning. Package includes shocks, springs and hardware.

NOTE:
  • Requires 0.05in, 1.3mm, or 1.4mm hex wrench for screws
  • Silicone shock/diff oil. Shocks should not be fully filled; add only enough oil for a heavy coating. 2000-3000cSt is a good starting weight.
  • Reservoir is for aesthetics only and is non-functional
Features:
  • Machined aluminum construction
  • Threaded shock bodies for quick pre-load adjustments
  • Scale-looking reservoir (non-functioning; for scale only)
  • Two spring rates included
  • Replaces Axial AXI31612 SCX24 shock set
Specifications:
Extended length eye-to-eye: ~32.5mm
Compressed length eye-to-eye: ~24mm
Stroke: 8.5mm

Includes:
  • (4) shocks
  • (4) soft springs (black)
  • (4) firm springs (silver)

Hot Racing Axial SCX24 Reservoir Friction Damper Shocks (4)
these are probably the best option out there for stock replacement. nice they come with two sets of springs, one soft and one harder. the one GIANT draw back to these is that the pivot balls are held into the shocks with rubber o rings. They pop off super easy when crawling and are tiny so you will never find them. Hoping to fix this with some tiny metal washers. If they didnt have this issue would rate 5 stars.

I really quickly just want to let anyone know who is reading any HR(Hot Racing) shock reviews that as soon as you get your shocks you will want to pull out and flip the metal ball joints so the big flange is on the outside, immediately they won’t pop off anymore and you can actually enjoy wheeling!!! ??

Just put these in my Bronco, and they made a huge difference!! Very nice compared to stock. Install was easy and the correct way as advised in the comments below..used the silver(firm) f/r, and the truck is perfect !!

These are side specific. Mount them with the reservoir facing aft and the large side of the bushing facing out and you won’t have to disassemble anything. I’ve had no issues after several hours. Less bouncy now as well.

Hot Racing Axial SCX24 Reservoir Friction Damper Shocks (4)
Shocks are good quality with one MAJOR issue. They are held on with tiny rubber o'rings that pop off very easily. You'll have issues within 10 minutes of installing them. Why this hasn't been rectified is beyond me. It's ridiculous that I paid this kind of money for these & they won't even stay on the truck due to a very obvious product defect. They need a small washer or an E-clip fastener. Now I have to go buy something. Very unhappy about this.

Hot Racing Axial SCX24 Reservoir Friction Damper Shocks (4)
I just put these on my C-10. I have tons of upgrades and was looking to get a little more ride height out of the rig. With the lightest springs provided I was able to get the truck sitting up more. However, the truck tips over more now than it did with the stock shocks. I will be putting the stock shocks back on and adding heavy grease to the barrels like YouTubers suggest. They look cool but definitely negativity affect the rock crawling capability of the truck. I have drastically lightened the body of my stock C-10, I do believe these shock might be beneficial to a truck with a heavier body.

I have a SCX24 with brass wheels. Don't waste your money on these unless you just want them for the look. They do nothing, if anything they restrict the free movement of the axle. You're better off running the stock ones which allow the axle to move smoothly or you can go with none at all with a rubber band to limit downward movement.
