Hobbywing Xerun 4274SD G3 1/8 Scale Sensored Brushless Motor (2250kV)
Description should provide more info for recommended applications. This motor is not for typical 1/8th scale off-road tracks, but for very large tracks with long straights. The torque is in the high rpm range, so using this on a short track will cause overheating. A $165 lesson learned.

Hobbywing Xerun 4274SD G3 1/8 Scale Sensored Brushless Motor (2250kV)
I have been running this motor in my Tekno ET48 2.0 since March.

TONS of power - despite my conservative gearing, this thing is so powerful it makes my ebuggy with 1900kv look silly. On my home track with a 170 ft front straight, there has not been a car or truck I could not gain on in power sections. Also, despite all the abuse I've given it (more on this later), it still seems to be running well.

However, if I were to do it again, I'm not sure I would pick this motor.

First, I found a motor fan to be pretty much a requirement, as I simply could not finish a 8 minute main before triggering thermal shutdown (which on my ESC is set at 227 degrees). I run a 14T pinion (which is the smallest you can fit unless you remove the center brace) so it's not like I've been running a crazy tall gearing.

As if having to run a fan wasn't enough annoyance, even with one you will struggle with heat. For instance, despite yesterday being an unusually cool 71 degrees day, the motor came off the track at * 181 * degrees after 8 minutes. On most summer days you will be dancing closer to 200 degrees.

It will tax your ESC and battery as well - my XR8 SCT hit 192 degrees and Protek 6000mAh 110 degrees yesterday. I am not expecting either to last very long. While not an apples to apples comparison, consider that on my ebuggy, with a 1900kv motor, the ESC doesn't even need a fan.

So, a very powerful motor, albeit with limited appeal. Yes, you can drive conservatively to manage heat, but if you have to baby it, what's the point of running a motor this powerful in the first place?
