Quiet, easy to use and comes with everything you need.
This has become my favorite charger. Bought it not expecting much. Now it's with me every race .
This is about half the size of my previous 2 channel charger and fits into the toolbox well. There is a pretty strong electrical smell during use, but does not appear to affect functions in any way. I had specifically chosen this charger as it was advertised as having the capability to check internal resistance of cells, but it's only in one specific charging mode and you need a Y adapter that isn't included to use that function so I guess I'll just continue to use a multi-meter. It would have been nice if you could've checked IR in any mode without adapters. The screen is good and the variety of adapters that are included is a nice touch. Overall, decent bang for your buck.
I was on my 3rd "Passport Ultraforce" charger .. over the past 15 years .. when it too finally died. Seeing nothing I liked within their line, the Gens Ace IMars Dual caught my eye. I purchased it and have to say .. WOW! .. what a GREAT little charger this is. Small in stature, but not in performance! I immediately noticed that it was charging/balancing to a higher degree than my trusty old "Passport Ultraforce". I picked up another 5% in capacity on every pack! It's winter now, so I'm only charging using the AC built in power .. however .. can't wait to try this at the field with it's 300 watts of DC power! I fly mostly 6s/5000 mah packs now and this charger just blasts right through them. Very impressive! I really liked that Gens Ace added all the different charge leads with three different connectors. That was a nice touch! My only "criticism" would be that the discharge rate is anemic at best .. but! .. that is typical with most all the chargers out there today. I say FIVE STARS Gens Ace!
It is about as loud as my space heater. And it’s a bit of a pain to connect the balance wires. But major upgrade over my sky rc charger. It’s saving me about 2 hours per charge on my x maxx batteries
This thing is awesome! Super easy to use if you've ever had a lipo charger. I actually prefer the buttons over the scroll wheel of others. It's nice it comes with different connectors I actually have batteries that use each one. Big upgrade from an old accucel 6!
Very simple to use charger. Charges my 6s 6800 'bashing' batteries to 4.2v in about 60 minutes from 3.4v. Has plenty of modifiable settings and it's very easy to navigate. I use XT90 connectors, which conveniently enough this charger doesn't have adapters for...it comes with EC3, EC5 and the T style connector to XT60 though, which is nice for anyone running those connectors. But it's sleek, easy to use, very user friendly, and doesn't take up any space. For what it is and the price, you get a whole lot of charger for not much at all...especially when you pick it up at a discounted price :)
There was a slight 'electric' smell at first. I was concerned based on the reviews I read. But after a couple uses, it's gone. At least I don't notice it. It does get slightly warm after a charge, but nothing alarming at all.
Is charging my battery's but has a horrible burnt electronic smell to it.
This is a great charger especially at it's price point but not without issue. When charging batteries from day one it has had a VERY strong electrical smell that makes the entire room smell! It doesn't get hot and charges just fine, I contacted Gen Ace on the issue and they said it will go away after a break in period. Since purchasing it I have intentionally used it for the last month to charge all my batteries when going to the field and the smell is still there and is very annoying. Operation is simple and the supplied cables to convert to EC3/EC5 are a bonus. There are two other issues I have with this charger that are minor as well. The "Done" sound can be set for one time beep when charging batteries but when I come home from the field and use the storage charge option it does not sound one time and will sound LOUD and constant until I unplug the batteries which is inconsistent with the menu setting, and the tone is very annoying. Lastly when putting the batteries in storage mode it takes forever! It balances the cells very very close together in the .00 range but I had 4S batteries literally take 20-30 minutes to storage charge when they are only at a 3.7 taking them to 3.8. Many times I will just remove them early when they are in the 3.98-3.08 range just because it's taking forever.
The bonus of it being an AC/DC charger are nice and it does suit my needs very well at the field when using the DC Charging option with our solar power bank. Would I buy it again? Probably not knowing what I know now, I doubt they would allow me to return it and I'm sure I would have to pay to ship it so it's not worth it for me to return it at this point. I'm wondering if I just got one that has an extra coating or something causing the smell or if all of them smell this bad... I've seen them go on sale for $115 and have been tempted to buy another just to see but I can't justify the risk of having two of them stink up the room really bad.
I like this charger, its small and easy to use, it's my main charger now and moved from an accucell 6, which is my backup charger now.
Bought to replace 2 spektrum chargers that would never balance charge right. Gen ace is hands downs the best and easiest charger ive used. Easy setup and us. Have had zero issues charging traxxas, Smc, hoovo, or zeees. Well worth the money
Just one of those things new item thought it'd be great, I got a Gens Ace bashing battery, and the balance cord keeps falling out of the port. So for me, both of these items are annoying even though they are from the same company. It's pretty pathetic, honestly. It keeps beeping at me repeatedly that it's not reading the balance cord until it's like you get it just perfect. Too much fiddling until it's a perfect tight fit if it moves at all the balance cord just falls out.
