This is the Furitek Stinger Brushless Motor and ESC Combo for Axial AX24. With high performance offerings for the SCX24, FCX24, Traxxas TRX-4M, and Axial UTB18, Furitek has expanded their line to cater to the Axial AX24 rock crawler kit. At the heart of this power system is the Micro Komodo 1212 3450Kv motor. Despite its compact and lightweight design, this motor packs a punch, delivering exceptional power and torque at low speeds, while still maintaining impressive speed at high RPMs. Thanks to a special ESC FOC firmware the Micro Komodo operates incredibly smoothly without any cogging, ensuring a seamless crawling experience at both low and high speeds.
What sets the Furitek Stinger brushless system for AX24 apart is its compatibility with the stock radio and receiver. You won't need to invest in a new radio and receiver to upgrade to brushless power. This makes it an incredibly user-friendly and cost-effective solution, allowing you to seamlessly enhance your crawler's performance without any additional complications. Additionally the Furitek Stinger brushless system features the integration of the Furitek FURICAR mobile phone app and built-in wireless module. With this innovative combination, users can conveniently adjust and fine-tune various parameters on the fly, without even needing to touch the truck. This allows for seamless customization and optimization of your favorite settings, giving you unparalleled control over your crawler's performance.
For added convenience and durability, the package includes a CNC aluminum skid plate specifically designed to mount the Stinger system directly onto the Axial AX24 kit. This not only ensures a secure and hassle-free installation process but also enhances the overall ruggedness and longevity of the system.

1. If you plan on dropping the chassis (like I did on two of my builds) to achieve a lower COG, be aware that the outboard motor of this system can, and most likely will hit and wear on the driveshaft. IMO, Furitek should have made this a much shorter outrunner. There’s really no need for a motor this long for the AX24.
In order to get around this, I flipped the driveshaft so that the smaller end was closer to the transmission. I also ran stiffer springs and used the Injora chassis mounting holes to pull that front end up high enough (definitely the opposite of what we want to do on this rig).
2. Make sure you use a shorter screw on the motor side upper link mount point. Otherwise, it’ll hit the outrunner. It’s a very tight squeeze.
I’m debating whether I want to pick a sparrow chassis up and see how it pairs with this kit. Like much of what Furitek makes, it has incredible performance, but it really forces you to unnecessarily MacGyver or even compromise some things in order to get it to work. 2FM RC on YouTube has a couple incredible AX24 rigs. I may reach out to see how he has overcome this driveshaft issue. I know I’m not that only one who’s experienced this.
It would have also been nice to see a higher voltage BEC in there too.
Awesome slow crawl.
