Flite Test Mighty Mini Arrow Electric Airplane Kit (737mm)

Quick to build, good building directions. Fast flyer. Maneuverable, I wound up running at 30% travel. Somewhat difficult to launch when you are flying by yourself. Anyone who can fly a symmetrical winged aileron trainer can move onto this. My only complaint is what is always true of all flying wings, unstable yaw, which isn't really a problem except at low airspeeds. Landings are high speed or it will fall sideways out of the air when you're 10' above the runway surface. I finally made new wing tip "rudders" for mine which were basically the same shape to maintain aesthetics, but double the dimensions so it could be landed at lower speeds. Perhaps that could become an option lasered into the foam board for the builder to decide ?

I cut out the plans for this one, so I haven't dealt with the speed build kit. I love flying this plane though. On an 3s 850 mAh I can get ~20 minute flight. I've tried it with both a 2204 and a 1806 motor. I think it might be the fastest FT plane I've flown so far, but I prefer flying it low and slow with the 1806. It glides so nice and stable that it's a quite fun plane to play catch with.

About half the time I put an all in one camera on it for some FPV fun. I think this is the only 3 channel plane I really enjoy as FPV. It coordinates the yaw so nicely when banking, that I don't really feel like I need rubber control. It's not great at chasing other planes though. It has such little drag that I constantly overshoot, and the lack of rudder does become a problem.

Overall I love it for slow flying and FPV cruising. It's a nice relaxing plane for that. If you want it to be fast and aerobatic, use a 220X for the motor and something bigger than a 12A ESC.

A great plane! It was a very quick build, light, fast, turns quickly. Flies inverted, but needs quite a bit of down elevator....oops...elevon. Flies for 6 minutes on a 500 Mah, 3s battery. Even easy to build from plans. Watch out it can tip stall! Quite durable too. One of their very best planes.

This is the very first foam board airplanes that I got to fly. I started out with the se5a, but quickly got into wing racing with this plane. For those who are building this as their very first plane, set your expos really low. This is a very maneruvable plane and can take some getting used too, but that being said, it is a wonderful airplane. I have build 5 in total of these, and would probably say this is my favorite ft design besides the ft scout, and the sea duck. (Both of which I highly recommend.) this is also a great plane because the build time is about 2 chours starting from scratch. I'm a poor 17 year old in Utah, so I use the dollar foam board and build from scratch. Even starting from simple dollar foam, it sti only takes about 2-3 hours. Oncein flite test has made a great product for everyone.

This is a great plane, fly's nice and fast very agile. I scratch built mine using the downloaded plans and used the power pack from my SE-5, the servos were too light I stripped them out when I crashed it I installed bigger ones and no more problems with them. I had to move the ESC to the outside so it would run cooler because it was over heating when it was inside. I added a cooling vent for my VTX as well it runs pretty hot as well. this thing is a blast LOS and FPV and tough I broke mine in two just glued it back together and it fly's really good still.

The FT Mini Arrow is one of the best designs to come from Flite Test and it is a constant member of my squadron. It is so simple to build. I have probably made three or four of these in the last year. Given that it is also highly maneuverable, I tend to put one into the ground on a fairly regular basis. That being said, I think the best thing you can do to become a better pilot is to not live in constant fear of crashing your models. With the Mini Arrow you are only out two sheets of foam and an hour or so of time. Great if that high-speed/low-altitude half Cuban 8 does not turn out so well..

This is not a plane suitable for a beginner, but that does not mean that it is difficult to fly. It is just highly responsive and does not have the best stall characteristics. To someone with any degree of experience flying RC aircraft this plane will be a good time.

My favorite setup is with a 2400kv 2306 motor and 1000mAh 3S battery. 4S is bonkers, almost too much. I have gotten into the habit of strictly using metal gear servos as some high speed turns can strip plastic gears.

Definitely my favorite Flite Test plane. I have the plans cut out on posterboard, and whenever I want to build one I just trace the plans onto dollar tree foamboard. Builds super easily and quickly. I have flown it with everything from an A power pack on 2s to an F power pack on 3s. With any configuration, it will slow down easily, and you can get some decent speed with the smaller power plants, but the F pack is where it really shines. It makes for a great combat plane and wonderful for everything from putting around to high speed inverted passes 3 feet above the ground. It handles all your aerobatics that don't require rudder. Inverted flies with relatively little down pressure, and you can even slow it down inverted without getting into trouble. It is incredibly durable and very easy to fix, but I have started doing a couple of my own modifications with mine. One, before I fold the wings over, I reinforce the leading edge with fiberglass packing tape (although regular packing tape would work just fine) which gives it a lot of strength, especially if you're expecting to fly in combats and anticipate hitting another plane at 40 mph. Another is that I mount the ESC on top of the center pod right in front of the motor, with a small cutout to route the XT60 to the battery in the front. This frees up space in the center pod and allows for more ESC cooling. Night flying is a blast with this thing too. I have 12V LED strips that connect to the balance lead of my 850 3s batteries that are routed around the spar in the middle of the wing facing outwards. Installing the LEDs in the wing adds a bit of time to building, but they make for a great night flying experience, as the plane is fully lit. I haven't tried the LEDs with the brown foamboard (I suspect it won't work quite as well), but with the white dollar tree foamboard, it perfectly lights the plane. Overall, it's a very veratile plane and anyone that can handle an aileron plane can handle this.

I was skeptical of this design at first but decided to give it a try since I had a ppf motor and 2 9g servos around. After reading one review I was nervous of it tip stalling but I did not have this issue. Perfect hand launch held by about half way on the right wing. I used a few bbq skewers in the leading edge of the wing to add more strength and seems to work well. I used a 4s 1050mah battery which is far too big for this design but I just moved the esc to the top of the pod and everything fit and balanced well with a bit of trimming in the inside of the pod.
A bit hard to tell if your inverted or upright but can be fixed by some paint. other than that 10/10 great plane great characteristics.
