These are ridiculously bad. DO not buy if you expect them to mount straight up to the ring gear.
You have to first use a Dremel to bore out the hardened ring gear holes because the provided screws don't fit through the holes!!
Then, once you have done that, you find out that they have provided you with 4 (or 5, I got 5 in my packet) 2.6mm x 12mm screws, but these screws are FAR TOO LONG to go into the diff cup. I had to cut the screws shorter with a Dremel also. Ridiculous.
Is of good quality and improved my Losi Rock Rey. The stock one was out of plastik and the screws ripp off or even broke.
I had a fitting problem with the screws included but at the end I used a bit more force and then all was good. Will buy an other one just to have it as spare.
Bought two of these for my Rock Rey. A lot of machined aluminum parts look nice, my question is always "how well do they fit?"
I'm happy to report these are amazing. Very well machined and everything bolts up perfectly. I'm looking forward to my next Exotek purchase.
These diffs work great! IMPORTANT "You have to open up counter sunk holes on ring gear to 2.4 mm that correlates to a 3\32 drill bit". Drill holes on ring gears and transmission gear to allow 2.5x6mm hardware. Directions say to use dremel tool but i found a drill bit works faster. Be easy with drill,You dont want it to heat up and lose its heat temper.
Fits great on my Losi Baja Rey 1/10 scale, Only had to bore out the ring gear for the bigger screws. As for the other comments regarding the work involved, if you don't expect a little bit of work on an aftermarket part to make your whole rig stronger then you shouldn't be upgrading at all. Took me less than two minutes to dremel out the holes slightly for the bigger screws. Thing is bullet proof now, no more stripping rear diff cups..Great purchase!
The same situation as the previous buyer. It is required to drill holes for the bolts and also either cut the threads deeper or cut off the bolts!
Better than factory but still wears out fairly quickly. The aluminum wears out on the output shafts, causing excessive play then ruining the spider gears.
Just put in the Exotek front/middle/rear aluminum diff case in the front of my Losi Baja Rey 2.0 to replace my stock front diff which was on its way (2 screws out of 4 broken) to failure.
On my Baja Rey 2.0, it fit perfectly with absolutely no modifications necessary. They say in the instructions that newer Baja Rey diffs may need minor drilling with a Dremel # 952 grinding cone, but maybe mine was an earlier version. At any rate, it fit perfectly!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Great diff upgrade for Losi Baja Rey, requires some patience as you will need a dremmel to fit the screws as many others have said. Despite that, it has great performance and does the job. I ordered one for each diff, kinda mandatory if you plan to do some serious bashing and racing.
Well built diff case. Worked exactly as it should. Drilling thru the ring gear for the larger hardware was tough, but a carbide bit made quick work. Would recommend! 10/10
You have to drill the holes larger on the ring gear. Doing this makes this an excellent part. Its worth the effort.
There is included instruction sheet now that addresses how to correct for the ring gears screw holes being so small. Diff case works perfect! :)
This did not bolt right up for me. The hex screws that come with the diff are just a hair larger diameter than the countersunk holes in the gear(maybe just mine)...and the gear is hardened steel, so it’s not easy to bore the holes out.
