E-flite UMX P-51D Voodoo - Micro Electric Model Airplane
The E-flite UMX P-51D Voodoo Bind-and-Fly Basic Electric Airplane replicates the famous race plane from the striking looks to the outstanding performance. The P-51D-25-NA was built in 1944 by North American Aviation in Inglewood, California, for the United States Army. After crashing on March 19th, 1977 it was purchased by a private party and fully restored as the modified racer "Pegasus" in 1980. It was renamed Voodoo and flew in the 1998 Reno Air Races. It won the Unlimited Class in 2013, 2014, and 2016 and is now part of the Planes of Fame Air Museum collection in Chino, California.
This UMX-sized Voodoo comes out of the box with a 2-3S capable power system. When paired with a 2S LiPo, this plane delivers moderate performance and has stellar flight characteristics. However, equip this with a 3S (3S 300mAh), and you will fly one of the fastest UMX models with unlimited vertical performance! The airframe is built using durable EPS foam to maintain rigidity. The landing gear can be removed for even more speed and performance.
The UMX P-51D Voodoo is equipped with a control unit/flight controller that includes an ESC and Spektrum receiver that provides real-time flight battery voltage telemetry to compatible Spektrum AirWare-equipped transmitters while you fly.
Features:
- More powerful 2S and 3S-compatible ESC and motor with 4-blade prop
- Works with the Spektrum DXS transmitter included with many RTF models

It is NOT a beginners plane. I hate having to say that. SAFE mode will keep it upright for you, it will keep you from crashing with even heavy handed thumbs. It will not keep you in visual control distance as this plane is fast for such a small plane. But it is a comfortable upgrade from a Timber or Cub and flyable outdoors in moderate breeze because of the AS3X and SAFE modes.
Experience counts? I am an AMA Contest Director, former RCCA combat pilot, former club instructor but really, just an average skilled sport pilot with a bunch of hours. People with inherit skills put me to shame. If you are flying in an open area like a school yard/football field that is legal for the new FAA rules for sub 250g aircraft and have permission to do so, this is a great little, fun aircraft to be used there. It will get your blood pumping with the throttle forward and just looks cool going by at lower speeds. I also recommend videos on youtube that are reviewing this aircraft. It will give you an impression of how fast this looks at full throttle BUT also how easy it is to fly.
3s 11.1V 300mAh LiPo. Being an experienced flyer I was pleased with the first flight which I performed in the SAFE mode for safely and after landing found it easy via the instruction manual to increase the rudder throw and mechanically center the rudder; other than that it flew perfectly and I look forward to more flights on it soon.In closing my next will be the current and well recieved UMX Pitts Special which I will of course will order from amainhobbies.com Sincere RA McFarland
