I would not call this a hobby grade crawler. I got and was very disappointed and sent it back.
Great detail in the body. Appearance and size-wise it goes great with my Traxxas TRX4M. Impressed with the 3 piece bead-lock wheels, but drivetrain could use improvement. Shocks are just undamped springs and battery is small and difficult to install/remove. Makes a good indoor crawler. I’m happy with it but if it were a choice between this or the TRX4, the TRX4 is a better machine in every way and well worth the extra $30-40.
The 2 stars are for the nice body. The Servo is awful, very weak. The trans has some safety mechanism that slips like crazy under any torque and this thing is super slow. So slow that my other tetra brand one from here in low setting is still faster and it has 2 speeds higher. The tetra one from here is significantly better at crawling in every single way, the body just sucks. Oh yeah and this thing is kinda heavy for a 1/18.
Tl;Dr - Scale mall crawler, not up to par.
This car has a nice hardbody but everything else is pretty sub-par. And there aren’t a lot of upgrade options so you are stuck with a car that can’t crawl. It’s ok for trail riding but it’s very slow. Mine arrived with a bad servo and after replacing it with an OEM servo the turning angles were terrible. I don’t recommend this truck. The parts are very cheaply made.
Visually, this is a good looking homage to the Toyota FJ Cruiser. It's a good looking little mini crawler. The turn signals coming on when you turn the wheel, headlights when going forward and brake lights when hitting the brakes (reverse) are nice touches. But as a crawler? Meh.
Not a lot of articulation. Not a lot of breakover angle. Stiff springs, so very bouncy. Battery compartment that can more or less only take the stock sized battery. Touchy throttle. Relatively wide turning circle. Minimal tools - just the wrench and charger, when the spare tire and TX battery tray both require a small Phillips screwdriver to access.
On sale, this is a great little truck. At full price? Meh. There are much better options at this price point if you're looking for a good mini crawler that actually crawls.
It does look good. And it is fun. But, yeah . . . not a great crawler.
If you really must have one of these vehicles buy it now. In today's money these things might be worth the $69 but I doubt it. If you must have one of these easy RC vehicles, get a patriot, or glacier, or a Chevy K10, and my favorite is the Toyota Hilux. To be honest with you, none of them are worth the money that they cost. I wish Amen would just put liquidation prices on all of them and be done with it. Maybe then they will all get sold. Do not pay 139 for this vehicle If they still make them like they used to at least the Toyota has a metal frame under it.
Cool little rig. Performs good. But center windshield wiper fell off immediately. And left front shock cap came apart after second run. Difficult to take apart to repair.
It is a great RC Crawler. It tracks well...even outdoors in my backyard. It is the right size and looks great. I have dropped it a couple of times from about 3 feet height, not a scratch on it. Very beginner friendly and pocket friendly. It is a great one to have for people who love Crawlers, and also who have a budget. The Triton was shipped very quickly and the packaging itself was really great. The package arrived earlier than I had initially expected, and in superb shape. Thanks AManin Hobbies!

Decent, but I much rather the axial 24 quality over this unit.
Looks great should score 5 out of 5 for that part. Drives like a clunker definitely need bearings all around so a score of 3 is legit.
Spend the extra $15 on a Traxxas TRX 4M. This thing is barely above toy grade.

It’s ok. I am not a big fan of crawlers, however I purchased it on a pre-black Friday deal so I couldn’t pass it up. Lots of plastic. The lights are cool. Perfect for a young enthusiast. I love rc anything and I collect them. Looks cool sitting on my shelf. I may have to make an obstacle course.
Very capable and fun crawler for its size!!! I haven't taken on a course yet but I have fun with it at home!!!

Great little budget trail truck. Easy to transport for those times when you just have to crawl. Minimal bump steer. Easy enough to modify for separate ESC & receiver. Since it doesn't have the scale interior there is a blank slate for mounting options for both. You will have to either change out the receiver connection on the steering servo or install a standard micro servo in it's place. I will be adding brass FMS FJ Cruiser wheel weights & upgrading gearbox to steel gears as is offered for the FMS version. Direct fit. All in all a great purchase and the folks at AMain get the orders out quickly.
Not a $139 car. I have other cars at this price and they are hobby grade. This feels more like a toy, the battery is tiny. Just expected more for this price point
