I picked up this motor after the motor in my SCX24 died. This motor lasted about 3 batteries before it failed also. At first I thought the battery was drained, so I charged the battery, installed it and nothing. Steering is responsive and the LED in the ECS was on. (second ESC as well)
Truck has been used by an experienced RC enthusiast; indoors normal use,not exposed to the elements and the transmitter set to the middle position.
I love the truck, but the motor seems to be a weak link.
well like everybody, mine burned, as well as my esc, buy another one don't waste your time and money rebuying it
It does not come with the blue resistors shown in the picture, causing it to overheat. Use it on medium power which is selectable on the transmitter and it works fine.
It lasted for one day after instillation. I would not recommend this.
These are basic motors. Nothing serious but they are cheap.
The motor on my daughter’s deadbolt burned out after about the 4th full battery through it and the first time she actually ran it constantly for a couple hours. It appears there was some rubbing from the front U-joint on the center link. I’ve read that extra drag could cause premature failure, so I’ve replaced the center link with stock plastic vs aluminum.
The “blue resistor” is actually a mica capacitor. I think it’s .1uF. They’re not needed. Once upon a time back when we still had to match crystals on the TX/RX, brushed motors caused enough noise in the AM/FM frequency band to cause interference. With today’s modern 2.4ghz+ radios that use more modern protocols, these capacitors aren’t really necessary.
Well the motor gots damaged very soon, so I buy once in a while some of them, because i preffer to have everything in stock mode
bought mine from hobbytown it works good dont get it wet or pull anything more than 1 pound or it will kill its self works good so far i have had it for about 2 weeks no issues motor is cheap so if it dies your not out too much.

Quality control is a thing of the past. I ordered two of these and one wasn't even soldered together. The wire leads fell off the motor while taking it out of the package. So in order to return this $9 item, I have to pay an equal amount in shipping. I will be buying after market parts now. I will not be purchasing axial anything from now on.
I have had three of these motors. I wouldn't buy another one. The Hot Racing Barrage style motor is far more durable. Oddly, I have had one that won't die and I have had one that went out twice and keeled over.
3 out of 4 failed in just a couple of months of intermittent use. Gonna find another solution. You should too.
I have two SCX24’s, the vehicle this motor goes in. One of them has lasted with the original motor since Christmas 2020. The other, bought in late April 2021, is now on it’s third motor. Another review noted this motor DOES NOT come with the external Capacitor soldered on the motor, and those reviews are correct. It does not. You have to find and buy those separately, slit the shrink wrap around the fragile wires, and delicately solder it on. It’s a .1uf Capacitor. They say “104” on them. My first motor quit working completely. The second one starting getting choppy/jerky in reverse. A fresh motor cured it, but for how long?
My stock scx24 motor lasted about 5 weeks, and this replacement one lasted only 1 week. Axial totally chose the incorrect motor when designing the scx24 as they will not last, there is an "upgrade" motor (dyns1203-barrage) option but finding one in stock is pretty tough. In the meantime, I'm not sure if I'm willing to spend another $7+ on a temporary motor.
I read a comment saying this motor doesn't come with the blue resistor like shown in the picture. So I ran and grabbed my spare to look and sure enough it doesn't, false advertisement. I gave it 2 stars because of the false advertisement. You won't have a problem with this motor if your rig is stock. I haven't had the pleasure of mine burning up yet but it's only been 5 months. I would just go straight 2 OX 050 motor by Fatboy.
