*Product Use Statements: Although Sidewinder 4 is waterproof, it is not intended for operation while completely submerged in liquid. They can corrode when exposed to corrosive materials, such as salt water. Always rinse the ESC with clean water after exposure to corrosives or dirt. While the controller may be waterproof, Castle recommends users confirm that the rest of their vehicle, including the batteries, servos, radio and chassis are also waterproof before exposing them to liquids of any kind.
Tech Notes:
- Not all LiPos are created equal, and surge ratings should never be used to determine a pack’s suitability for a brushless application. Use the CONTINUOUS C rating only. Brushless setups frequently hit 100+ amps in peaks. Castle strongly suggests using 5,000mAh or larger LiPo cells with a discharge rating of at least 30C (or high quality 25C batteries). Castle suggests using only mild gear ratios with NiMH cells. Do not attempt to use NiMH cells in extreme setups.
- Please refer to the Castle Gearing Chart for recommended motor, battery and gearing for some of the more popular vehicles on the market.

This is the freaking smoothest, coolest running esc I've ever used! The start up and low speed control is just incredible. Rolling backwards starts? No problem just buttery smooth throttle response no matter what.
I've been a long time Castle Creations customer and owned many of their fine products over the years and this is my new favorite!
Castle really knocked it out of the park with this one, it's one heck of a nice esc for the money.
UPDATE: I'm not sure If the fan in mine was a dud, but after a few more battery packs through this thing the truck took an easy tumble mid corner and when it went upside down the fan started making a loud noise.
Apon further investigation it looks like the fan shroud does not provide enough clearance for the fan blades allowing contact during some driving conditions.
My fan lost a blade and is now unusable. I've been running without the fan and even on a 90 degree day pushing hard through grass at speed the controller only heated up go about 110-120 degrees.
So I'm diching the fan as I don't Think it's durable enough for life in an off road basher
(One star removed, because the fan/shroud situation needs a rethink on Castle Creations end to ensure the fan can withstand more than a handful of runs, at $10 bucks a pop the fans are not what I consider cheap. Should be $5 item at best).
