The BPC Wraith Skid Gen5 Chassis Rail Conversion is more than just a set of rails! This chassis system allows you to convert your 2.2 Wraith skid based truck to a ladder frame style build! The shock hoops are spaced the same length apart as the standard SCX10 and the rails feature eight rear upper link mount positions, making this a great option for Wroncho builds! The chassis features steel rails and cross bracing, with a full size BPC forward battery tray system to make the conversion easy to complete. This made in the USA kit includes cross braces, battery tray and necessary hardware to create an incredibly capable, competition ready upgrade for your custom Wraith based rig.

NOTE:

  • BPC components are designed for builders. Modification to these parts and/or your existing parts may be required to work with your application.
  • These parts are made from Steel. They can rust if they aren't painted or powder coated. If this concerns you, we recommend you prep and paint the parts as needed, or have them powder coated.

BP Custom Wraith Skid Gen5 Chassis Rail Conversion
TLDR- I used this on my Wraith Spawn. This is an amazing and very strong chassis. It is a bit finicky to get everything fitted properly. Be ready to figure out a custom body mounting setup. Once everything is dialed, it's great looking and performs really well.

Full Review:

The packaging was great, however no instructions were included. I was a little worried that it would be a very stressful install. However, after laying some parts out, everything seemed pretty straight forward.

As it mentions in the description, these parts are raw steel, and will rust if exposed to moisture. I got mine powder coated, and it looks fantastic. Plus, it will hold up much longer than paint.

In case you aren't sure, these chassis rails completely eliminate the Wraith's cage. The only mounting points are the eight bolts on your skid, and the tops of the four shock bodies.

Installing the rails on the skid is simple. 4 bolts on each side. As far as the bars that are included, it's kind of up to you where you put them. I used three in total; one at the top of each shock tower, and one in the very rear. I did not use one in the front as the servo made contact with it and limited front suspension travel.

Using the stock hardware for the shocks, I discovered that the shocks rubbed against the frame, and wouldn't fit properly. (I'm running Desert Lizard 120mm) I ended up using longer bolts (local fastener store) for the tops of the shocks, and using spacers I made from delrin (ABS plastic would work, too). As far as the bottom of the shocks, the only way I could get them to fit & not rub the chassis was to move the eyelets on the outside of the mounting brackets, versus the factory location in the middle. A little odd looking but after 10 or so runs, it's holding up well.

I mounted the battery tray on the inward sloped area between the skid and front shock tower. I figure this would give me better weight distribution and lower center of gravity. But like the bars, you are pretty free to mount the tray wherever it will fit.

As far as mounting a body, it's completely open and up to you. I ended up drilling holes in the bars across the shock towers, installing some generic body posts, and clipping a body on. Looks great with some fitting, trial and error!

Overall, it was a smooth install. I wish instructions and "modifications needed" was included or listed somewhere. If you're tech/mechanically savvy, you should have no issues figuring out this kit.
