This is the Blade SR UH-1 Huey Gunship RTF helicopter. The Huey was the first turbine powered helicopter to enter production for the US Military and is most famously know for its service in the Vietnam War. This scale licensed Huey body is based on that famous helicopter and combined with the SR flight characteristics, is a great combination of scale and performance for a Ready to Fly.

This SR Huey, based on the popular SR RTF helicopter, is a great helicopter for anyone who has flown a single-rotor fixed-pitch helicopter. It comes out of the box programmed to provide a softer climb, pitch and roll response around the center of stick movement. This, combined with the tough, two-piece main frame and lower head speed, makes the Blade SR more forgiving and easier to master than most conventional CP helis. Plus, it’s big enough to fly outdoors even if there’s a little wind!

  • Scale UH-1 Huey Gunship Helicopter body gives that scale look in an RTF platform.
  • Uses the proven Blade SR platform so that you have a known and reliable set up.

Blade SR UH-1 Huey Gunship RTF Helicopter
So, let me get this straight, because you guys lacked the skills required to fly this heli (thus crashing), you give it a low rating AND blame E-flite for not giving you lessons? What a joke! I guess Kawasaki and Suzuki should include lessons with their dirt bikes so we can all ride like Ricky Carmichael! Helicopters in general posses an inherent danger with there spinning rotors. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure that out nor does it take a manufacturer's warnings (and these warnings are listed in the manual). Ultimately, the responsibility for safe practices falls on the consumer.

For those that understand how to transition from a FP heli to a CP heli, this heli is superb. Yes, the body will break in a crash just like any other heli will. And yes, due to the scale nature of the body, it does cost money to replace. This heli flies fine when flown in a scale like manner. For those interested in a CP heli, I highly recommend investing in a quality simulator such as Phoenix or RealFlight.

David, are you tarded? I clearly stated that the problem was that EFLITE is marketing this helicopter as a good beginners helicopter. It isn't, you need to be an experienced collective pitch pilot to fly it. I don't expect EFLITE To give me lessons, but I do expect them to be honest with their advertising.

Blade SR UH-1 Huey Gunship RTF Helicopter
I agree with Vance Taylor's assessment. I have just about the same experience with flying (mainly blade helis). I used the manual specs for pre-flight check list and before I knew it, this heli (I have the standard SR version) jetted left and crashed hard. I decided to fix, double check, and try again. This time I was ready for its hard left or so I thought. I tried to compensate, but to no avail...crash!! I sold the heli to a more experienced flyer....

Blade SR UH-1 Huey Gunship RTF Helicopter
This was my first Heli. Based on ratings by this site suggesting the Huey is a "beginner" level heli. It is not. My unit was also shipped with a defective hp6dsm transmitter. The elevator stick was wired backwards which made the heli fly forward when you pushed the stick for it to go backwards and it flew backwards when you pushed the stick forward. Needless to say, I crashed the heli on it's 2nd flight. Because it was after the 30 day return period, Amainhobbies refused to do anything about it. Horizon Hobby replaced the transmitter but did not agree that the transmitter being wired backwards had anything to do with the crash. BOGUS customer service. I contacted a customer service manager at amainhobbies who was going to contact horizon hobby and get back to me with a resolution and I never heard from them again.
