This is an optional Avid RC Associated Standard Aluminum Topshaft. Associated owners can now take advantage of reduced rotating mass in any Associated vehicle that uses the ASC9601 topshaft. This top shaft delivers improved punch, faster acceleration and faster laps. Plus, the Avid topshaft weighs 4 grams, compared to the 10.7 grams of the stock part. Thats a 6.7g weight savings, making this drop in upgrade a great upgrade for stock class racers.

Avid RC Associated Standard Aluminum Topshaft
bought two of these topshafts and the first one broke on the second day of racing and I got five days of racing from the second shaft. both shafts broke at the slipper plate.
