About the Mustang Boss 492

Considered one of the rarest muscle cars in existence, the Boss 429 was engineered by Ford to develop a Hemi engine, challenging Chrysler in NASCAR. Between 1969 and 1970, Ford produced only 1,358 of these iconic cars to meet homologation rules, requiring 500 units with the Hemi motor. Although officially rated at 375 HP, the Boss 429 was widely believed to unleash around 500 HP, making it a powerhouse on the road. The 1970 model, featuring the distinctive oversized flat black hood scoop and Boss 429 logo on the front fenders, exemplifies its legendary status. Despite its performance prowess, slowing sales and high production costs led to Ford ceasing production by the year's end.
