Yeah Racing Tamiya TT-02 Aluminum Front/Rear Shock Tower (Blue)
*This part will NOT work with the Yeah Racing RWD Conversion Kit (TATT-S03)! Consider an alternative product instead if using the RWD Conversion kit.
I had bought these originally for my RWD drift TT-02 chassis. Sadly, I purchased this from another retailer because AMain didn’t stock this part yet.
What I like about this is that it matched ALL of the Yeah Racing and Tamiya bling and it’s lighter weight than the factory plastic shock towers. Another added benefit is that you have THREE pre-threaded positions for which you can mount your oil dampers to (either from Tamiya or Yeah Racing Shock Gear) because let’s face it: you’re not buying these to mount the friction shocks from the kit! Lol
Now here’s the caveat that I wasn’t at all expecting when I’d purchase these. These towers DO NOT work with the Yeah Racing RWD Drift conversion parts! Yes, you heard that right and if you thought you could, well I just hopefully saved you some money because again, THESE WILL NOT WORK FOR THE YEAH RACING RWD DRIFT CONVERSION!!! Another thing that upset me is how Yeah Racing do not even acknowledge that these will not work for the RWD drift conversion either. No mention of it anywhere. Not even their partners or factory team members have any info about whether these work with the TATT-S03 kit. It took an RC n00b from Hawaii to figure that out the hard way.
The problem with why these don’t work with the TATT-S03 lies within the shock towers being thinner than the standard plastic Tamiya ones. The reason why they don’t work for the RWD conversion is because of a flared spacer used on the adjustable upper arms in the drift conversion kit that WILL NOT WORK AT ALL on these towers because of where the arms mount to is again thinner. These towers will work fine if you’re using either Tamiya parts (box stock or hop-up) or the Yeah Racing adjustable arms as neither require the use of a flanged spacer like the RWD upper camber arms do. I will also follow up with a review on those later.
Anyway, this review has been longer than it needed to be but hopefully it provided some necessary insight for those looking to bling out their TT-02. It’s a very nice, high quality product. Just understand that if you have the TATT-S03 (aka the RWD drift conversion) kit, you’ll just spend money on parts that won’t at all work on your chassis. If you're not building a drifter but was looking to find a stronger alternative to the factory parts, these are definitely a good buy otherwise.
