It is a bad departure to write this review in comparison to all the other good reviews that you see about this servo. I however have had 2 bad experiences with this servo. First, I have had ProTek servos in the past that have been excellent, were very strong torque power, and these servos would have lasted a long time. For some reason I got a bad batch with these two. When I got the first 160 TBL I installed it and it gave normal operation of a ProTek servo. But I learned that I could hear servo noise that was out of spec because these servos make no noise whatsoever and neither do any other servos I have used. There was a light twitching sound in the servo that was noticeable that sounded like some type of electronic interference. I tested it on another receiver and the same noise was still evident. I didn't know whether this servo would malfunction fully so I returned it to A-Main. I received my second servo and didn't even install it and immediately plugged it in expecting to hear a quiet servo. To my shock I heard the exact same twitching sound however this time it was even louder. I had to return this one as well. If you go to page 2 of these reviews Clifford Flores said the same thing. I don't know if it is possible that there are whole batches of electronics that are defective in a lot, but this may have been the case here. Lately, I have noticed that the quality from China, Taiwan, Korea, or other Asian countries just isn't what it used to be. If you read my review of the Tekin Gen4 Spec-R 13.5T, the same thing happened with this motor. In comparison, my Motive MC4 was hand checked, assembled, and packaged by a professional at the Wisconsin office. For this motor there was an 18 part Analysis and Quality Control Spec Sheet, including a visual inspection, machine test and motor temp, and the timing was optimized and pre-set. Upon installation, this Motiv MC4 17.5T motor could power my Team Associated B74.1 4WD with a near power level as the Tekin Gen4 Spec-R 13.5T. In this comparison, poor quality control standards should be a justification that electronics should be produced here in the USA like they used to be. Corporations just will not have it this way though because of their profit margin of executive greed. Much of our electronics must be produced at FOXCONN and abroad in order to justify that unheard of profit margin and eliminate good paying American jobs. What do you think?

I use protek black label servos in everything i race. 170bl in 1/8 scale and 160 in 10th scale.i use to use mks or futaba and one day tried the older protek chad Bradley servo and since then never looked back protek bl servos are very good quality and wont let u down. Speed is great and the torque is amazing. They are very strong servos will last u long
Excellent servo highly recommended, using it in my 1/10 off-road with great success has a very nice response and tight feeling.
This is my standard steering servo for my 1/10th scale off-road buggies and stadium truck. I really like the speed an torque this servo delivers when I'm racing (though i'm a slow guy :-)).
One of the best servos out. Strong and fast! Plenty of torque for the 4wd 1/10 buggy.
After additional research on Spektrum 150A ESCs, I had found that their ESCs pushing 7.4v could sometime be a bit harsh on servos even if the servo can handle 7.4v. I reduced the ESC BEC output to 6.0v for this servo and it is nothing short of outstanding. Would recommend to others but suggest you research optimal performance output of specific ESCs for specific servos.
The servo I had ordered works great on the axial scx10 ii trail honcho and deadbolt I have, both are running 128mm and 130mm tires and 2.2 wheels with capra portal axles. Took them out over the weekend and was very happy with how well the steering was working out.
Amazing servo using on a 22X4 elite. Just got back into the hobby and using plastic servo horns as a (servo saver). Cheap solution for me that is relearning and occasionally taking hard hits, so it strips the cheap plastic without toasting the servo.
Great servo! Use it for indoor carpet and clay, won't buy any other type of servo.
Beautifully machined and impressive. Very smooth and quick. I'm running the black label in a ET410.2 truggy and a B6.2d buggy, both have performed flawlessly. I've also heard great reviews from other friends that run only protek servos at this point. 5 stars!
Nice low profile, very short plug wire though, so needs to be close to Rx or you may need an extension.
Very impressed with this servo, it's quiet and fast. Quality of the case is excellent. Hopefully it stands the test of time.
so far first impressions are good, 5 stars.
This is my second Protek 160TBL servo. I was so impressed by my first purchase I had to get another for one of my other vehicles, and will be getting 3 more over time to replace the others in my vehicles.
These are in all my low profile servo set ups. Amazing. I cannot believe how quiet they are with my futaba reciever. Blows the Savox SB-2265MG Black Edition Low Profile Brushless Metal Gear Servoout of that water. (To be fair, it has noise with the Futaba reciever).
They have plenty of torque, the speed is amazing. Just buy it.
WOW - I am super impressed with this servo. The speed at 7.4 vdc and torque are great - installed as the steering servo in my AE RC10B7D. The cable is fairly long so placement relative to the rcvr is really a moot point. I have another servo with a 3" cable. The servo end does not have the JR/Futaba rib - pay attention to the sensor wire selection when plugging in as the servo may not work otherwise. Metal case - looks great, powerful and fast, runs at 7.4 vdc, winner winner...
Protek 160 servo is in buggy b7 is awesome thank you very much?
Awesome strong servo .nice and simple case.Have'nt hurt one yet and I've had a few rough nights...
Black label servos are the best it will keep you steered in the right direction
Protek has always been a good product.I buy their batteries too.Roar Approved
Works great and fast for my 10th scale 4wd buggy. The black box pairs well with my black out electronics and wires. Bought due to long lasting.
